One of the most attractive features of the Galaxy Nexus in its presentation was the facial recognition system for unlocking the system - despite the fact that luck did not accompany it, and this feature resisted showing itself without problems during the event -. However, and although it still carries some errors, this system promises to be one of the great attractions of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
And despite what was holding Steve Jobs which Android you copied the mobile operating system - it seems that Apple has also been inspired by this function. At least, this is deduced from recent patents registered by those of Cupertino, in which it is observed how the iPhone and iPad would behave with an integrated facial recognition system.
This function would be present in the system through an application, which could also be replicated on home computers - MacBoook Pro, MacBook Air and iMac - as well as on the still unknown television system that is expected to be released this year, and that responds provisionally to the inappropriate name of iTV -at least, inappropriate in Spain-.
Apple's facial recognition system would have similar functions to what we already know from similar applications on other platforms, and would focus on aspects of the device's security. Thus, for example, the mechanism could be used to unlock the operating system at rest or to open sessions, in the case of a computer with several authorized users.
On the other hand, it would also allow access to certain users with limited sessions, so that once they entered, they would not have all the content of the equipment at their disposal, but only a part previously configured. By the way, this system could also have a function related to what we know as a proximity sensor, activating when it interprets that the authorized user approaches the device.
