Donald Trump's ban on Huawei has made the Chinese company unable to use services and solutions from US firms, such as Google, Qualcomm or Microsoft. Without a doubt, one of the most affected is Google, since it loses one of its main partners, although Huawei is also affected by the loss of Google services in its next smartphones. The company has had to continue working on its operating system: Ark OS. We already have the first screenshots.
Huawei has registered the Ark OS trademark in Germany, which suggests that its own operating system will have that name globally. Screenshots have also been revealed with the registry. unfortunately it is not the main interface, it is the menus and apps that this system will incorporate. As we can see in the images, they are apps that we already see currently on the firm's devices. Huawei has been adding its own applications for some time, such as an email manager, weather app or even browser. All of these will be in this operating system. We can also see the menus, which are very similar to what we have seen on Android. Therefore, we could see a design very similar to EMUI.
A fork of Android, the most possible alternative
Looking at the screenshots and knowing that Android apps will be compatible with this system, we can assume that Huawei will apply an Android Forum. That is, the clean version of Android without Google. To give you an idea, it is like a Room that you install on your device. Amazon, for example, uses an Android forum with its own apps on its Kindle tablets.
Ark OS could arrive next June, according to a company official. We do not have more details about the launch of this operating system. Huawei ensures that this software has been ready since January 2018, but we do not know which terminals they will reach or with which device they will announce it.
