How are the app stores behaving from one year to the next? From the IHS consultancy, now in charge of the work that we knew about iSuppli until now, the conclusions are more than positive. In general, the penetration of stores applications for mobile accounted for growth in 2010 of 160.2 percent over 2009. And it is that although two years ago the income from the downloads amounted to 828 million dollars (about 607.3 million euros, at the change), last year the virtual storefronts filled their coffers with 2,155 million dollars (almost 1, 6 billion euros, at current rate).
In this line, the two platforms showed better health when growing up were the Android Market by Google and Ovi Store by Nokia. And it is that the first experienced a blazing growth of more than 860 percent, to enter 102 million dollars (74.8 million euros, at the exchange rate), while, for its part, the analog service for mobiles based on the Symbian platform It came to reflect a rise in downloads of no less than almost 720 percent. The increase in Nokia served to enter 105 million dollars (just over 77 million euros) from this market.
Of course, that does not mean that, as might be expected, Apple and its App Store continue to lead the market share. Although its growth has been the most moderate of the four large download platforms (which is joined by BalckBerry's App World), with an increase of 132 percent, its market share almost reaches 83 percent. With this, it brought together an inflow of money that reaches almost 1.8 billion dollars (more than 1.3 billion euros, at the exchange rate).
