- Android 9.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8 is already under development
- The update could arrive before 2019
A little less than a week ago, Samsung announced the official release date of the Android 9 Pie beta for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9 at the Samsung Developer Conference. Nothing was known about the rest of the company's terminals. The only thing that was announced was that they would not have the latest version of Samsung's customization layer, One UI. Thanks to the recent WiFi certification of several Samsung models, we can know that Android 9 Pie for the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8 is closer than ever.
Android 9.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8 is already under development
Upgrading to Android 9.0 under Samsung Experience 10 for the 2017 Samsung flagships is something that is currently taken for granted. Unfortunately, Samsung has not yet given a date for these models or for the rest of mid-range mobiles. A recent leak confirms us now that this could be closer than ever, at least for last year's high-end.
The certification in question comes to us through the website of wifi.org, a well-known page that is responsible for verifying and certifying the WiFi connections of all the devices and software that are presented. As can be seen in the screenshot above, there are three models that have just been registered in recent days. Specifically, we find the Samsung Galaxy S8, the S8 Plus and the Note 8. This does not mean that the Android 9 Pie versions for these models are already ready to be released. In fact, the new Android cake is most likely still in the testing phase. However, it is a good indication that confirms that Android 9.0 is already being developed by Samsung.
The update could arrive before 2019
As for the arrival date of the aforementioned update, some sources assure that it will be at the end of December when Samsung launches this version. However, taking into account that this same version for the Samsung Galaxy S9, S9 Plus and Note 9 is not expected until at least the beginning of January, it is expected that it will arrive somewhat later. Possibly late January or early February.
In any case, it is not ruled out that some beta versions of the new Android will be leaked before the end of the year. It has already happened with other Samsung models and it would not be discarded at all.
