The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is making its landing among the devices of Google's Nexus range. After the Android 5.1.1 update of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, now it is the turn of another smartphone of this same range: the Nexus 6. The Nexus 6 can now be updated to the latest version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, although at the moment only owners of the US version (T-Mobile and Sprint) can install the update. Still, other users shouldn't have to wait long to receive this same update.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update of the Nexus 6 comes under the numbering of LMY47Z / LYZ28E (depending on the version), and users who are interested in checking their news first-hand can download it -under their own responsibility and taking into account Note that we are talking about an American version - from Google's factory images platform (developers.google.com/android/nexus/images). Of course, it is advisable not to install this update on a version of the Nexus 6 other than the one it is intended for.
In any case, the Nexus 6 Android 5.1.1 update only focuses on correcting minor errors, so that owners of other versions of this mobile (the free version distributed in Spain, for example) simply have to be attentive to the notification that they will receive when the update is available for download. In addition, the update will take up very little space (between 20 and 30 MegaBytes, at least that was the case with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 version), so that it can be downloaded even through the data rate.
The most important bug that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Nexus fixes is the issue that affected the Camera application in certain situations. Some users reported that, based on some of the latest Lollipop updates, the camera application would automatically close whenever an external application (Facebook or Twitter, for example) tried to access it. And there are not many more errors that are corrected after this update, since we are talking about a file that only brings 34 corrected errors in its code (an insignificant figure if we compare it with the128,680 code fixes that the first version of Lollipop brought).
Taking into account the recent addition of the Nexus 6, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update can now be installed on the following devices in the Nexus range: Nexus Player, Nexus 9 (LTE), Nexus 9 (WiFi), Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 7 (2013 - with mobile connectivity), Nexus 10, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (WiFi) and Nexus 7 (with mobile connectivity). The rest of the manufacturers will also join the distribution of this update (or, failing that, in the Android version 5.1 Lollipop) in the coming months.
