A few days ago, a certification revealed to us that devices from Sony's Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 ranges were ready to be updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. As expected, Sony's Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will bring minor news, and the Japanese company itself has confirmed this through one of its official web pages. According to Sony, the Android 5.1.1 update that Xperia range devices will receive will come with slight modifications in the notification center, while the other news will be aimed at correcting errors.
Confirmation of the new update Android 5.1.1 of Sony has taken place on the very site of Sony (in its Japanese division), where all the changes that this update will bring indicate in detail. Starting with the visual novelties, the Xperia range devices that are updated to Android 5.1.1 will receive two changes to the interface: a direct access to the WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity in the notification center (that is, we can -for example - change the WiFi network from the notification center, without having to specifically enter the mobile settings) andsome renewed icons in the different sections of the Settings application. From there, everything else will be minor interface changes (we can expect some new animations, for example) and bug fixes.
If we compare the update of Android 5.1.1 with the version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat from Sony (in the event that we have not yet updated our Xperia to Lollipop, for example), the changes that we will find will be much more striking. This includes a completely renewed Settings application, a notification center with an updated design, a new section of applications open in the background (with its respective option to close all apps with one touch (this novelty came with the second Android update 5.0.2)) and alock screen with more customization options, among other changes.
But when will this update really start to roll out? It seems that the wait will not be very long, as Sony is scheduled to begin rolling out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update from August. At the moment, the mobiles that have this update certified - and which, therefore, will be the first to be updated - are the Sony Xperia Z3, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, the Sony Xperia Z2 and the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. As these models are finished updating, we assume that it will also be the turn of the rest of the mobiles that have been updated to the Android version 5.0.2 in recent months.
