The idea is not far-fetched. And this is confirmed by different analysts. Amazon could already be working on a private label mobile. The Amazon smartphone or Kindle Phone - as it could be called - would be the logical step in which many specialists bet after seeing the result of sales of the products of the most important online store in the world.
The latest models of electronic books have recently arrived in Spain: Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G, e-Books that allow you to comfortably read digital books and that to turn the pages you only have to use your finger on the touch screens. However, in other markets such as the United States, the so-called Kindle Fire is also sold, the brand's first tablet that is currently one of the most popular of the moment — always talking about equipment under the Google mobile platform.
But perhaps the biggest advantage that Amazon has over other manufacturers is its large catalog of products. Kindle Fire is compatible with all the sections that Amazon touches in its store and the user - always creating an account in the service - will be able to download, upon payment, content such as electronic books, music or movies. And all of them without having to move from home; it would be content on demand.
On the other hand, if the rumors that have appeared about a possible Amazon smartphone are true, the company would join the movement that was hinted a few days ago where HTC and Facebook would be working together. But, unlike what happened in the past with the HTC ChaChaCha or HTC Salsa, this new Facebook terminal would be its own brand. This launch would cast doubt on the words of the founder of the great social network Mark Zuckerberg, in which he declared that he was not a supporter of a Facebook Phone and that he preferred that his platform be universal, reaching the maximum possible terminals.
Leaving aside HTC and Facebook and continuing with Amazon, analysts from ABI Research and City Group are convinced that Amazon's smart phone could arrive this year, according to the Wired media. The person in charge of manufacturing it would be Foxconn - the same one that is in charge of many Apple products - and would already be in contact with the virtual store to finalize all the details.
The same analysts praise the very competitive prices that Amazon usually puts on all its products; an explosive mixture that, if the intentions to enter the mobile phone market were true, could do a lot of damage to many manufacturers. Moreover, it is pointed out that Amazon has never looked to do business with hardware (the equipment itself), but that it always tries to do business with the content it offers. Therefore, it could be expected that the price of the mobile would be between 115 and 130 euros - always talking about the free market.
Finally, the operating system under consideration is Android. However, it would be an optimized version - and somewhat overloaded with the system - as in the Kindle Fire where there are direct accesses to the different services provided by the e-commerce company.
