The MWC of Barcelona arrives and the official presentations of new terminals arrive. One of the companies that has been in a hurry has been TCL, which this year presents a whole new range of terminals. Under the Alcatel brand come the Alcatel 5 series, the Alcatel 3 series and the Alcatel 1 series. All of them are made up of several terminals. In the lowest part of the new portfolio we have the Alcatel 1X, a terminal with 18: 9 screen, modern design, 13 megapixel camera and Android Oreo Go Edition system. But the best thing is that the Alcatel 1X offers all this with a price of 100 euros.
SIMGANIC, that's the name of Alcatel's new design philosophy. As explained by Hagen Fendler, chief designer at TCL Communication, with the new terminals the company initiates a new design philosophy. In it they seek a more natural and intuitive user interaction. The SIMGANIC design language can be seen in the new Alcatel 5, 3 and 1 series.

Simple design but with 18: 9 screen
The Series 1 is Alcatel's most affordable range, but that doesn't stop it from offering a contemporary design. The Alcatel 1X offers a unibody body with a modern smooth touch and satin finish. Although the company has not specified the material used, we assume that it will be polycarbonate with a layer to improve the touch.
The dimensions of the Alcatel 1X are 147.5 x 70.6 x 9.15 millimeters, with a weight of 151 grams. It has rounded edges for easy grip and a fairly clean rear. In it we only find the camera lens, located in the central part. And just below we have the Alcatel logo.
The front is also quite sober. We have an enlarged screen design, although the bezels are pretty obvious. On the right side (looking straight ahead) we have the volume and power buttons (rough to locate it easily).
The Alcatel 1X has a 5.34-inch screen with FWVGA + resolution of 960 x 480 pixels. The screen offers an 18: 9 aspect ratio, thus following the current fashion.
Very modest technical set
As we mentioned before, the Series 1 is Alcatel's most affordable range, so we cannot expect a technical set that is too flashy. The Alcatel 1X equips a Mediatek MT6739 processor. It is a chip with four cores running at 1.28 GHz. Accompanying this processor we have 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The latter can be expanded using a microSD card.
The photographic section is handled by a main camera with an 8 megapixel sensor. This can be interpolated to get 13 megapixels. It also has an autofocus system and LED flash. It also allows you to record video with 1080p resolution at 30fps.
On the front we have a 5 megapixel sensor that can be interpolated up to 8 megapixels. It offers a fixed focus system, flash and video recording with 720p resolution at 30fps.
All this accompanied by a 2,460 milliamp battery and controlled by the Android 8 Oreo - Go edition operating system. In short, a very basic mobile perfect to start in the world of smartphones.
The Alcatel 1X will go on sale in April 2018 at a price of 100 euros. It will be available in three colors: dark gray, dark blue and gold.
