Finding an entry-level mobile with enough features so that the terminal can work well during the day to day, was somewhat complicated. Especially when Android Go was not available on the market. Google decided to launch this platform 2 years ago as an alternative to Android for the most basic terminals. And manufacturers have taken advantage of this operating system to advertise terminals with fair features at a cut price. Alcatel, the manufacturer belonging to TCL, already has some models on the market. Now they announce the V1, a mobile with Android Go, a 5.5-inch screen and support for 4G networks for less than 100 euros.
Android Go works in a very similar way to conventional Android, which we see in most devices on the market. The difference is that Google optimizes its applications and the system in general to work smoothly, even with a terminal with a 1 or 2 GB RAM or 16 GB of storage. The optimization is carried out through different cuts in functions, animations and extra adjustments that are not really necessary. Even third-party developers have their own Go apps on Google Play, which can perfectly replace the original ones, which are larger. Unlike Android One, Android Go does allow adding a slight layer of customization to the terminals. In the Alcatel 1V we have a slight redesign in the main icons and applications.
The Alcatel 1V is available in black and blue colors.

This Alcatel 1V has a 5.5-inch screen with 480 x 960 resolution and IPS technology. The screen has a format of 18: 9, which allows us to see multimedia content with a more panoramic style. Applications like Netflix or YouTube have content in this format. Beyond the screen, the terminal is equipped with an eight-core processor, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. This memory is expandable by micro SD up to 128 GB. All this, with an autonomy of 2,460 mAh. Considering the features and optimization by the operating system, the battery can last all day without any problems.
5 megapixel camera with artificial intelligence
As for the connections, the Alcatel 1V has the possibility of adding up to 2 SIM cards for calls and mobile data. The main slot supports 4G connectivity. We do not forget the photographic section. This terminal has a 5 megapixel main camera. While it may be a somewhat low resolution, it is understandable considering the price of the terminal. Of course, it includes different functions, such as an AI mode with scene detection or the possibility of applying the popular portrait mode in photographs. The main camera also stays at 5 megapixels.
In terms of design, the Alcatel 1V is a compact terminal, with a polycarbonate back with a metallic finish, which is available in two finishes: blue and black. On the right side we find the volume and power button. Alcatel also wanted to add a button dedicated to the Google Assistant. By pressing this button we will wake up the assistant and we will be able to carry out different commands. For example, asking him for the weather, asking him to turn on the lights, or to send a message. It is a much simpler way to summon the Assistant, since we can even do it even with the terminal turned off.
Price and availability
The Alcatel 1V will go on sale soon. Its price is 80 euros for a single version with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. An attractive price for those users who want a compact terminal, with enough features to make calls, WhatsApp and other applications with few resources.
