Since last week more than thirty users have reported in forums the receipt of a call through the telephone number 911234834. The number in question has the prefix 911, so its origin takes us to the Community of Madrid. The doubt about it stems precisely from its nature. Does it belong to a private person? Is it a spam number? Or is it a public administration? We see it below.
Who is the 911234834?
"When I take the call I only hear a recording that says goodbye", "They say they are from my telephone company, but I have contacted them and they have confirmed that the number does not belong to their lines", "They tell me they are going to raise my rate ” … These are several of the testimonies that some users have shared on the Internet. Who is behind these calls?
It is supposedly Vodafone. Apparently, the operator of the call pretends to be a non-Vodafone telephone company (Jazztel, Movistar, Yoigo…) to announce an increase in the price of the rates. Later, the operator makes a call from Vodafone again to offer a cheaper rate.
These practices have already been denounced by Pedro Serrahima himself, current president of O2. Also by other specialists in the sector. However, we cannot confirm that Vodafone is the responsible company.

The only way to stop these calls is to install applications for this function, such as Mr. Number for iPhone and True Caller for Android. We can also make use of the Android and iOS options, which allow us to block numbers. The good thing about these applications is that they allow you to detect any number that has been previously registered by other users.
If we have a landline, we can proceed through the device's lock functions. In case the device lacks this function, there are models on Amazon for a price around 20 and 30 euros.
