The Samsung browser has little or nothing to envy Google Chrome. Although it may seem otherwise, the truth is that the application developed by the Asian manufacturer is much more advanced than Google's solution in certain aspects. It is a fact, Samsung Internet Browser has dozens of functions that are not present in the Google browser. Some of these options are hidden, while others are visible to the user. We have compiled some of these functions to get the most out of our Samsung mobile.
Install ad blockers in the browser
Did you know that you can install ad blockers on Samsung's browser? In fact, the application itself encourages us to do so. Inside the browser we will click on the hamburger icon that we can find in the lower right corner. Then we will go to the Plugins section and finally to Ad Blockers.
Now the browser will show us a whole list of ad blockers that we can install to taste. Adblock, Adguard, Adblock Plus, United, Crystal, Adclear and so on. Once we have installed the plugin, it will be activated automatically.
Block YouTube ads from Samsung browser
The list of ad blockers that Samsung shows us by default is not intended to block ads from YouTube. For this need we will have to resort yes or yes to an alternative complement, which we can access through the following link:
After installing the plugin in question, all advertisements on the YouTube website will be automatically blocked. Unfortunately, this lock only applies to the browser. The YouTube mobile app will continue to display ads as normal.
Customize the navigation menu to your liking
The navigation menu of the Samsung browser is located at the bottom of the interface. This menu has some functions that allow us to go to the home page, go back to a previous page or mark a page as a favorite. Thanks to the application options we can customize it to our liking from dozens of available functions. To do this, we will have to access the settings through the hamburger style menu.
Within this menu we will go to the Appearance section and finally to Customize menu. Now we will be shown a list of functions that we can move to our liking. Dark mode, Find on page, Share, Desktop version, Print pageā¦
Add a password to Samsung Secret Mode
'Secret Mode' is the name that Samsung has given to its particular Incognito Mode. This mode allows us to browse the Internet without being tracked by the different web pages, while allowing us to preserve our privacy. Nothing new so far. The novelty that this mode introduces is that we can configure an alphanumeric password to access it. This is especially useful if we are going to share the phone with our children or with people outside the device.
The way to proceed in this case is simple. Within the browser settings we will go to the Privacy and security section. Then we will click on Secret Mode Settings. Finally, we will activate the Use password box. Finally we will configure an alphanumeric password, which may be different from the password used to access the system.
Turn off autoplay of videos
Tired of accessing a web page and having the videos play automatically? Samsung Internet Browser has a function that prevents the automatic playback of videos. To do this, we will have to access the browser settings again. In the Useful functions section we will uncheck the box to Play videos automatically. That's it, it's that simple.
And add additional functions to the video player
Through the same Useful Functions menu we can activate a series of additional functions in the video player of the Samsung mobile browser. Specifically in the Video Assistant option.
These functions will allow us, for example, to modify the video ratio to take advantage of the entire screen. Or lock automatic rotation. Or activate automatically generated subtitles. The possibilities are diverse.
Scan QR codes automatically from the browser
Have you found a QR code and don't know how to scan it? Samsung's browser has a built-in QR reader that reads any code displayed on a web page within the application. Activating this function is as simple as going back to the Useful functions menu. Once activated, all you have to do is click on the code in question for the browser to send us to the destination web page or to show us the information hosted (names, email addresses, images, etc.).
View videos in a floating window
Samsung's browser has a curious function that enables the playback of videos in a small pop-up window, which allows us to continue playing even outside the application. The bad news is that Google has banned this functionality on YouTube. To activate the floating window in the rest of the platforms, we will only have to click on the floating purple button that will appear in the right corner of the application. Next, we will click on the option See in pop-up player that we can see in the image above.
Block website notifications in Samsung browser
Have you activated notifications for a web page by mistake? Or are you just tired of getting news from the local newspaper? To block notifications from websites in the Samsung browser we will have to go to the application settings. In Websites and downloads we will go to the Notifications section, from which we can manage all the websites to our liking.
