Hide your private photos in Gallery
MIUI has many functions designed to give extra protection to the content that you want to keep private. One of them is the one that allows you to keep the photos in the Gallery private by creating hidden albums.
Although the mobile is private, there are always indiscreet friends to whom you show a photograph and they end up seeing the entire album, and everything they find in the Gallery. To avoid these uncomfortable situations, you can apply this trick on your Xiaomi Redmi 9C or 9AT.
To do this, just follow these steps from the Gallery app:
- Choose the photos (or videos) you want to protect
- Choose the option "Add to album"
- And select "Hidden album" among the available options
- It only remains to confirm that you want to hide the file, and you will have your hidden album ready.
Protect your apps with a password
Do you want to keep some of your apps private and safe ? A simple way to achieve this is by blocking apps with sensitive information so that no one can access them without your permission.
For this, go to Settings >> Applications >> Application lock. You will see that you only need to configure a few steps, starting with setting a lock pattern, but don't worry, you can use your fingerprint or your facial data to unlock the apps.
Once you carry out these previous steps, you will see in the first column (App Lock) a list of all your installed apps. You only have to activate the block in the apps that you want to keep protected.
When you finish this process, you will see that you will not be able to open the application unless you use the unlock pattern or your fingerprint.
Schedule sessions for Reading Mode
Reading from mobile can take its toll on your eyes over time, unless you use the right settings for reading. MIUI has an option that allows you to set a Reading Mode automatically.
To do this, go to Screen >> Reading mode and you will find a series of settings. You can set it to activate automatically at sunset from "Night Reading" or you can set your own hours. In that case, just activate “Customize schedule” and set when these periods should start and when they should end in Reading mode.
Resize the screen for one-handed use
Both the Xiaomi Redmi 9C and the 9AT have a 6.53-inch screen. An interesting feature that can be played against if you use the mobile with one hand. But don't worry, you can easily adjust this detail to suit your needs.
Just go to Settings >> Additional settings, and look for the option “One-handed mode”. You will see that it allows you to choose the size of the virtual screen to handle all the functions of the device as if it were smaller.
Once you activate that option, just go to the screen and slide your finger from the home button to the side you want. And to get out of this "One-handed mode" touch anywhere on the screen.
Lock apps so they don't accidentally close
This trick will save you a lot of headaches when multitasking. To prevent important applications from closing accidentally, you just have to block it from the Recents window.
It's easy, just follow these steps:
- Click on the Recent button to see all open apps
- Position yourself on the app you want to block so that the options you see in the image appear
- Choose the padlock icon to lock it
This dynamic will prevent any gesture or when you select the X to close all the apps, close the blocked ones. To reverse this action just unlock the lock.
Reply to chats from the notification bar
WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack… in a short time we can be inundated with notifications on our mobile. Some we can miss, but others need an immediate response. So that this does not become a problem when you are busy, you can activate the option to reply from the notification bar.
In this way, it will save you from opening each of the applications, since you can respond from the same notification. To apply this little trick go to Settings >> Special functions >> Special answers. You just have to activate this option to see all the apps that are compatible.
Duplicate your favorite apps to use them with different accounts
Do you want to use another WhatsApp account on your mobile? Or do you want to have separate personal and professional social media accounts? There are different methods to do this, but you can use one of the MIUI options to apply this trick: duplicate your apps to use different accounts independently.
- Go to Settings >> Applications
- Choose Dual applications and you will see a list of apps compatible with this dynamic
- Activate this option for the apps you want and you will see that a new icon is created on the home screen
It only remains to use this new icon to log into a second account by following a few steps. One detail to keep in mind is that some apps require Google services to also be duplicated to function properly.
Schedule time on your mobile without interruptions
Do you need to concentrate on your work and do not want your mobile to bother you with calls and notifications? Then apply this trick.
MIUI allows you to program a period of time to be free from distractions from the volume controls. To do this, press any of the volume buttons so that the mini volume control appears on the screen, and select the menu of the three dots.
You will see that you have the options of "Silence" and "Do not disturb" to activate them with the plus of programming a countdown in periods ranging from 30 minutes to 8 hours. Once that time is up, they will be automatically deactivated and the mobile will have all the functions available as always.
One detail to keep in mind is that these Silent and Do not disturb modes can have different settings, depending on your needs. To modify them, just go to Settings >> Sound and Vibration >> Mute / Do not disturb.
Listen to YouTube music in the background
Do you want to listen to YouTube music in the background or with the screen locked without going through premium? You can do it if you apply this trick using one of the MIUI tools.
Get started with these steps:
- Open the Music app and choose the "View" section where you will find a search engine for YouTube
- Just find the song you want to listen to and activate playback.
- Now minimize the application and you will see that a floating mini player is activated that you can move around the screen
So you can scroll through any application, file or section of the mobile enjoying music from YouTube.
