During the last weeks there have been few users who have denounced in social networks and forums the reception of calls from 858701240. Apparently, the number in question reaches as many as twenty calls throughout the day, including weekends. If we attend to the information of the prefix 858, the origin of the call takes us to the province of Granada, in Andalusia. Is it a spam number? Does it belong to an individual? Is it a public administration number? We see it.
Call from 858701240, who is it?
"I have twenty-five missed calls from this number and I don't know who it is", "I return the call and an answering machine tells me that the number does not exist", "They claim to be from Movistar and they need to change the decoder of the television"… These are some examples of the most recurrent testimonies that we can find in the different Internet forums. Who is really hiding behind these calls?
Apparently, those responsible for the call are posing as Movistar's technical service to obtain data on their victims. The end of the call is unknown, although Movistar has already confirmed that the number in question does not correspond to any of its customer service lines. We can therefore confirm that this is an attempted telephone scam.
How to block calls from 858 70 12 40 and other annoying numbers
Given that we are facing a possible fraud attempt, the only measure that we can apply to avoid receiving calls from 858 701 240 and other annoying numbers is to install applications designed to block phone numbers. Some brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, Honor, LG, OnePlus or Huawei already have this function as standard, as we can see in the screenshots below.
If our mobile phone does not have this function by default, we can always use True Caller on Android or Mr. Number on iOS. The process once we have installed the application is really simple: it will be enough to add the number in question to the application's black list. Then we will activate the call filter to block calls from all the numbers that we have registered.
If we have a landline, the process is similar to the one we have just explained. Today most devices already have lock functions by default. Otherwise, we can always opt for phones that are around 20 and 30 euros in stores such as PCcomponentes or Amazon.
