Samsung One UI, the new version of the South Korean manufacturer's customization layer, has included a multitude of improvements to the system. Among them, surely the most requested by users has to do with performance improvement. Unfortunately, this improvement is not apparent in older devices. To this is added that not all Samsung mobiles have received the aforementioned update. Last week we saw 12 camera tricks to take better photos with Samsung mobile. This time we will show you 9 tricks to improve the performance of a Samsung Galaxy.
Before proceeding, it should be noted that most of the methods that we will see below are compatible with most Samsung mobiles. Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 +, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 +, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e, Galaxy J7, Galaxy J6, Galaxy J6 +, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A3, Galaxy A8, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J3…
Turn off Bixby completely
Although Samsung does not allow the deactivation of Bixby completely, we can play with its options to prevent it from being displayed in the system, with the consequent saving of resources that this entails.
The first step to deactivating Bixby is based on deactivating Bixby Home through the Home screen. As simple as clicking on an empty space on the Samsung Desktop and deleting the screen corresponding to Bixby Home.
The next thing we will have to do to deactivate the Samsung assistant is to access the application settings through the Bixby cogwheel and deactivate all the sections whose operation implies an overlap in the system. Voice response, Automatic listening, Voice activation, Use with locked phone…
As an additional option, we can access Applications within the Android Settings and deactivate all the permissions of the Bixby application.
And automatic app updates
One of the biggest loads on the processor. Google Play, along with Google services, is one of the most resource consuming processes in the system. Therefore, deactivating the automatic updates of the applications in the Play Store is essential if we want to gain extra performance.
We can do it by accessing the settings of the Google Play application by sliding to the right in the side menu. Then, we will click on Update applications automatically and we will mark Do not update applications automatically as the active box.
Speeds up system animations
Surely the most effective trick to improve the performance of a Samsung Galaxy, be it a Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J3, Galaxy A6, Galaxy A50 or Galaxy M20.
To speed up Samsung animations, the first thing we will have to do is activate the Development Settings, which can be enabled in Software information within About phone by pressing several times on Build number.
Once the new Developer Options menu appears in the Settings application, we will access it and indicate the value 0.5x in the following sections:
- Window animation scale
- Transition-animation scale
- Animation duration scale
Limit background processes
Within the same Developer Settings we can find another option that allows us to limit the processes of the applications in the background. Ideal for mobiles with 2 or 3 GB of RAM, such as the Galaxy A6, A6 +, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J3, Galaxy A20, Galaxy A10 etc.
The option in question can be found just below the Animation Scale options with the name Limit background processes in the Applications section. Once inside it, we will choose the maximum number of processes in the system.
