Mobile photography is gaining in importance. Almost all phone manufacturers integrate a relatively decent camera module, and most camera applications have manual controls. One of the most reputable brands in that regard is Huawei in conjunction with Honor. Both companies have the same camera application in most of their mid-range and high-end models, and today we will show you eight camera tricks to take better model photos of the aforementioned companies.
Take Light Painting photos (or painting with light)
One of the most interesting features of the Huawei and Honor camera app is the Light Painting, more commonly known as Light Painting. Thanks to this function we can make drawings with an object with light in the dark of night in a simple way and without resorting to tripods.
To activate this option, the first thing we must do is, how could it be otherwise, open the camera application. Then, we will slide the screen to the right and a series of camera modes will be shown to us; e l that interests us is to paint with light.
Once we have activated it, we will click on the three points that will appear in the lower part and we will select the Light Graffiti option.
Illuminate photos at night or in low light
The manual mode of Honor and Huawei phones is one of the most powerful today. Thanks to this we can take pictures at night or in low light with much better lighting.
To do this, we will slide the screen of the camera application to the right again and press on the professional photo mode. Now we will activate a series of manual controls, which we must modify to our liking to achieve better lighting.
The values we recommend if we have little natural light is an ISO 1400 or 1600 and an exposure of 0.3 points, although this depends on the situation of the photography. You can also try to activate the HDR mode, although it is not available on all mobiles.
Take portrait or bokeh photos to objects
The portrait mode has come to mobile phones to stay. Unfortunately, the Huawei and Honor camera app only applies this effect to people on some low and mid-range models.
To activate this same effect in objects and animals, we must make use of the so-called wide aperture. The option in this case can be found in the top bar of the automatic mode, next to the flash icon.
Now we can take photos with bokeh of objects and animals of all kinds.
Take enhanced macro mode photos
The automatic mode is, surely, the most loved by all. However, when taking macro photography, the focus in most cases tends to have defects when focusing on such close objects. To take close-up photographs with greater definition and focus, we must once again refer to the professional mode that we have discussed earlier.
On this occasion, the parameter that interests us is that of AF, which is in the fourth position starting from the left. When we click on this, several more options will be displayed; the one that we will have to activate is the one that has the name of MF.
Finally, a sliding bar will open that we will adjust to our liking to focus on the object in question: the further to the left, the better the focus.
Improve the focus of moving bodies in videos
Surely you have ever recorded a video in motion and surely you have obtained a result, the less it improved. Fortunately, the EMUI camera application includes an option that allows us to keep the bodies we select in focus.
This option can be found by accessing the camera settings, which we can find by sliding to the left on the main screen of the application.
Once we are there, we will look for an option called Object Tracking. We must activate it to apply this mechanism to both photographs and videos. When taking a photo or recording a video, we will select the object or person in question that we want to keep focused and the mobile will automatically focus on it constantly.
Take pictures with your mobile locked
This is not a common camera trick to take better photographs for use, however, it is a useful function that allows us to capture images in a few seconds if we have the mobile locked.
As in the previous trick, we must access the camera settings by sliding to the left on the main screen. Later we will go to the last option called Quick snapshot: we will activate it and select the option Make quick snapshot.
Now we just have to press twice on the volume down key with the mobile locked to quickly take a picture without having to open the camera application manually.
Improve lighting in low-light videos
Like the photos, the videos also have a professional mode that allows us to adjust parameters manually. In this case we will use it to improve lighting when there is little light in the scene.
The way to activate this professional mode is identical to that of the manual mode of the photos, although we must select the Professional Video X mode.
Once we have selected it, we will go to the EV parameter and press it as if it were any option. Now a slider should be displayed that will allow us to change the exposure of the video. As this depends on the lighting you have, the perfect value depends entirely on it, although it must always be greater than 0.
Take photos remotely without touching your mobile
If you have a tripod and want to take photos from a distance, the Huawei and Honor camera application has a function that allows us to take photos with our voice.
This option can be found in the same camera settings as the previous sections. The option in this case is called Audio Control, and once activated we will select one of the two available options: say Cheese to take the picture or raise the voice to a predetermined decibel level.
