All you need is to use the Music app, which comes pre-installed with your device.

Open the application and choose the "View" tab that will show you YouTube content.
Use the search engine to find the songs or albums you want to play
Play the video, minimize the application window and surprise: you will have a floating player that you can move anywhere on the screen.

You can scroll through the mobile settings, open applications, answer chats or any action you want without interrupting the music playback. The player options are basic, but they will allow you to pause the song or skip to the next one from anywhere on the mobile without opening the Music application.

One detail to keep in mind for this trick to work is that you need to have enabled the function that allows the Music application to be shown on other apps.

Listen to YouTube music with your mobile locked

Applying the above trick will also help you to listen to YouTube music with your mobile locked, although you will not have the player options visible on the screen. So to pause playback or change songs you will have to turn on the screen.

It's still a practical dynamic for listening to music when you're multitasking around the house or listening to your favorite songs while trying to sleep. And of course, it is ideal to listen to an interview or TED talks published on YouTube as a podcast.

The MIUI Music application not only allows you to listen to YouTube music, it also allows you to view it from its own interface with an interesting advantage. You will not see ads in the videos, or ads in the recommendations.

You will only have a list of videos with the basic information such as the title, author, minutes of duration and number of views. You will also not see the comment section or any option to share or like, etc. Just a clean interface with a continuous video playlist.

View YouTube feed and subscriptions without opening the app

So if for some reason you don't want to have the YouTube app installed, take this trick into account:

Open the pre-installed Xiaomi browser and scroll to the third tab of the bottom menu
Touch + to configure the contents to be displayed on the main page of the browser. Once you carry out the previous action, you will see the options shown in the image:
Make sure that "Subscriptions" and "YouTube" are among the added channels
Now you just have to log in with your YouTube account and all the content of your account will automatically be displayed at the bottom of the browser.

When you want to see new recommended videos or your subscriptions, just open the browser (the third tab) and you will have all that updated content to browse and view.

Adjust the real-time equalizer for YouTube music

Although you can customize the equalizer sound options from Settings, you cannot do this while watching a video from the YouTube app. So if you want to improve the sound of the song you will have to exit the app interrupting the playback, and the adjustment will not make much sense.

But if we apply a little trick you can adjust the equalizer parameters while listening to the song. You just have to repeat the dynamic we saw in the previous tricks:

Open the Music app and search from the "View" tab for the YouTube song you want to play and press play
Minimize the video (as we saw in the third trick), go to the first tab "My music" in the lower menu and open the Settings section within the app.
Choose Advanced Settings >> Headphones and Sound Effects >> Equalizer

At this point you will see all the options that you can adjust as the song plays. When you get to the combination of settings you want you can save it as a sound profile, as you see in the second image.

Just choose the save icon at the top and give it a name to save it with the rest of the special presets. So the next time you want to apply that sound profile, you won't have to configure it again.

And if you have no idea of sound settings, don't worry, you can simply display the list of default profiles from "Customize" and keep trying until you find one that gives you that effect you are looking for for the song.

One detail to keep in mind about this option is that it will work only when you are using headphones and you have the Mi Sound Enhancer option activated.

Improve headphone sound when listening to YouTube

In addition to the equalizer settings, Xiaomi allows you to select the type of headphones we are using to improve its sound, since each one has a custom preset. How can you use this option to improve the sound while listening to YouTube music?

As we mentioned in the previous tip, using the Music application to watch or listen to YouTube videos gives the possibility of making this type of adjustment in real time. So you can test the settings of different types of headphones while playing the YouTube video to choose the one that best allows you to enjoy the music.

To do this, repeat the 3 steps that we mentioned in the previous tip with the "My Sound Enhancer" option activated, but instead of choosing "Equalizer" scroll to "Select the type of headphones". Your headphones may not be reflected in this list, but you can select the one that is most similar to your model, or try all the options to hear which one sounds better.

View popular YouTube videos in the app vault

If you like to be aware of popular YouTube videos, you will no longer need to resort to the official app, you can see them from the application vault.

You may not have paid attention to this function, but the application vault is the MIUI function (scrolling the main screen to the left) that shows certain accesses and recommendations to perform quick tasks. And among the options is "Popular Videos" taken from YouTube.

To activate this option you have to open the application vault, choose Settings and make sure that "Popular videos" is inside "Added".

You will see that it only shows two videos in this section, but you can select "More" to see other recommendations from the browser. Or you can use the option to update and keep seeing suggestions from the same app vault.
