I do not receive notifications on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8

A problem that is inherited from MIUI 10, rather than from the terminal itself. Apparently, the system does not display the icons for incoming notifications in the notification bar. Nor does it warn us through floating notifications, forcing us to repeatedly check the bar intended for this.

All in all, the notification problem on the Redmi Note 8 and 8 Pro has a solution. Just go to the Notifications section in Settings and click on each of the options that are displayed on the screen: Notifications on the Lock Screen, Floating Notifications and Notification Icons.

In each of these options we will have to enable all the applications or those that we want to be notified (WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram…). In the case of notifications on the lock screen, we will have to make sure that the option Show content of the notification is checked.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro gets too hot

Although the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a liquid cooling system, the implementation of a Mediatek processor causes its temperature to rise up to 40 degrees when playing games or using heavy applications.

In this case, it is advisable to close all applications in memory before executing a certain game and lower its graphic quality if it is very demanding. Removing the cover during gaming sessions is another trick that we can carry out to reduce the total temperature of the mobile, in addition to avoiding charging while we use the phone.

In the event that heating problems occur when using applications, a good way to detect the problem is to take a look at the Battery section and classify the expense by Application Use. We can also use the GSam Monitor application to obtain more complete data.

The battery of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 lasts little

One of the main features of the Redmi Note 8 and 8 Pro is based precisely on the battery. For a few weeks, however, pages such as HTCmania and XDA Developers have been collecting a multitude of reports in relation to the battery consumption of the two Xiaomi models with processes such as Google Play Services or Android System.

In both cases the problem is not due to a MIUI defect, but to the synchronization of the system with our Google accounts. After the first days of use, the high consumption of these two processes should be reduced significantly. If the battery drain comes with third-party applications, it is advisable to install them again or resort to lighter alternatives.

The rest of the solutions that we can carry out are simple: activate the battery saving mode, deactivate unnecessary connections, optimize the use of applications in the background.

GPS problems: positioning does not work well…

A problem that is inherited again from MIUI 10 and its battery management. When activating the Battery Saver mode, the system limits the GPS functions of the applications that require the use of this component.

The way to proceed in this case is very simple. We will only have to go to the Battery and performance section in Settings; Specifically to the option of Select applications within Suspension battery saver. Then we will click on all those applications where we want the use of GPS to not be limited. Within each of the applications we will mark the Unrestricted option to prevent the system from suspending the geolocation functions.

Spotify closes on its own or freezes on Xiaomi Redmi Note 8

Several dozen users have reported problems with the Spotify application: it freezes, crashes, closes itself, crashes… Although the company has not commented, clearly we have a problem with the application.

To activate the LED light with each incoming notification we will have to go to the Additional Settings section within Settings and select the LED Notifications option. Within this we will activate the two options that are available. It should be added, of course, that due to the size of the LED, it is most likely that we will not check the warnings through this system.
