Android 10 is already a fact. The first development version of the new version of the Android operating system will arrive during this month of March. Its name is still a mystery although, following the alphabet, we know that it will start with Q. What will we have at the end, Android Quiche? Android Quesadilla? Android Quince Pie (quince pie)? It is still unknown. What is no longer so are its some of its most important news and features. Here we list everything that will reach the terminals when they update to Android 10 Q.
These are the main novelties of Android Q
The long awaited dark theme
One of the most effective ways to save battery is by placing a black wallpaper on our terminal, as well as not using too much brightness. In Android 10 Q we will finally have a native dark mode for, and this is the best, all the applications that we install on our terminal, whether or not they have said dark mode in their mode settings. Dark mode would change the system settings to gray and the quick settings and notifications panel to black. A mode that will also help reduce eye strain.
An Android Face ID
As of Android 10 Q, all terminals that update to this new system will have the possibility of mounting specific hardware to unlock the terminal with our face, in the way that they can already enjoy at Apple with their Face ID. This facial unlocking system will, of course, serve to unlock our mobile but also to make purchases more safely. The internal code of Android 10 Q will include an API so that the engineers of the different layers of customization can include the facial unlocking system on their phones.
Android DEX?
Another of the most powerful rumors is to ensure that thanks to Android 10 Q we will have a new 'desktop mode' thanks to which we can use our Android mobile as if it were a computer, in the manner of Samsung's DEX base or the 'Easy Projection' mode of the Chinese brand Huawei.
Record screen without third-party apps
From time to time we have wanted to record the screen of our mobile to upload a video tutorial on YouTube. But we have always had to use applications to record the screen. It is not that it is a hassle to continue using third-party tools but if it can be avoided, all the better. Thanks to Android 10 Q we can, in addition to taking the corresponding captures, videos of our screen in action.
Improved permissions
For the applications to work they require certain permissions that we, as users, must grant. For example, a camera application will need to access, of course, our camera. In Android Q 10 we will have statistics about which permissions are the most used by the applications we have installed. In addition, in this latest version, the user can give temporary permissions to the applications. The entire permissions section will be displayed in a much more visual way than before.
More customization settings
If Android already, in itself, is distinguished by offering a high degree of customization, in Android 10 Q this will be even more evident. Thanks to third-party applications, and without the need for root, we will be able to change the fonts of our system, the different icons of quick adjustment or the accent color of the system.
More discreet installation menu
To bring a more discreet and minimalist design to all corners of Android, now, the menu that shows the installation of an application will be the size of a small pop-up window, instead of the full-size screen as we see now.
