The dual camera gave way to one of the camera modes that have become more popular when capturing photos with the mobile. We refer to the portrait or bokeh mode, which manages to give prominence to an element of the image by blurring the rest. The result is a more creative photo, typical of professional cameras, although the same results are not always achieved. To achieve a good blur effect it is best to look at the resolution of the second sensor or the one that plays with the depth of field. And it is that the larger it is, the better it will control this function, and, therefore, the more quality the bokeh photo will have.
Virtually all current manufacturers have joined this trend. Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, Sony, Alcatel or LG have devices with a double camera (some already even with a triple camera), which offer the possibility of enjoying photos with portrait mode. In addition, what was previously typical of very high-end mobiles, above 500 euros, is now present in the mid-range or entry level. Therefore, it is possible to find models to take bokeh photos for under 300 euros. Next, we reveal seven to you.
1. Samsung Galaxy A7 2018
It is one of the Samsung models that allows you to take portrait mode photos by activating the camera app. This phone is available to buy for under 300 euros. Specifically, we have located it at 260 euros in stores such as Phone House or Media Markt. Furthermore, this team was one of the first to land with three main sensors. The first lens, 24 megapixels with aperture f / 1.7, has phase detection autofocus. The second has a resolution of 8 megapixels, f / 2.4 aperture and 13 mm sensor, perfect for capturing wide-angle. The third, 5 megapixels and aperture f / 2.2, is what provides the depth sensor for bokeh captures.
Another remarkable aspect of the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 is that the camera of this mobile includes Bixby Vision, Samsung's artificial intelligence system that gives the possibility of detecting objects and analyzing texts, in a similar way to Google Lens.
2. Huawei Mate 20 Lite
The Huawei Mate 20 lite is made up of four sensors, two located on the rear of 20 + 2 megapixels and f / 1.8 aperture. Using the aperture and portrait modes we can play with the lens aperture and with the blur bokeh effect. In this way, it is possible to highlight an element of the image to give it all the prominence of the photo. In this model, Huawei strongly opted for the quality of the front camera, since the dual lens included offers higher resolution than that of the rear camera: 24 + 2 megapixels with f / 2.0 aperture.
It is a terminal that is not bad at all for taking photos with portrait mode and that can be purchased for about 280 euros in stores such as Phone House.
3. Moto G7 Plus
It was announced in early February, but it can already be yours for under 300 euros. The Moto G7 Plus allows you to take bokeh photos thanks to its secondary sensor of 5 megapixels with focal aperture f / 2.2. The main one is 16 megapixels with f / 1.8 aperture and optical stabilization. Its front camera has a single 12-megapixel sensor and f / 1.7 focal aperture. This will give us the opportunity to capture good selfies when there is not too much light.
The phone is available to buy in stores such as PC Components, where you can buy it for 280 euros.
4. Alcatel 3V
If you are looking for a mobile even cheaper than the previous ones, but capable of taking photos with portrait mode, take a look at the Alcatel 3V. The terminal can be found on the market for only 160 euros in stores like Media Markt. The terminal has two sensors, 12 + 2 megapixels. Thanks to this second 2 megapixel lens it is possible to achieve the much desired bokeh effect. In your case, it is accessed through an icon that is located at the top of the camera interface.
We can adjust the focal from F / 1. (lens wider to let in more light) up to f / 16 (less blur effect). The results are quite good, as long as we know how to adjust the focal length. To give you an idea, in situations where the light is not a problem it will not be necessary to go down to the minimum. In this way, we will obtain a more natural blur effect.
5. Samsung Galaxy A6 + 2018
Another model that allows you to take bokeh photos and that does not exceed 300 euros is the Samsung Galaxy A6 + 2018. It can be yours if you go to Amazon and pay the 225 euros it costs. The terminal includes a dual 16 megapixel (f / 1.7) + 5 megapixel (f / 1.9) sensor, with FullHD video recording capacity.
One of the strengths of this Samsung Galaxy A6 + is its secondary sensor with 24 megapixels and flash, perfect for taking self-portraits in any situation.
6. Huawei P20 Lite
At the moment, the Huawei P20 Lite has a price on Amazon of 220 euros, a value below 300 euros, and that allows us to achieve that bokeh mode in our photos to give priority to one element over the rest. Specifically, the Huawei P20 Lite includes a 16 megapixel RGB sensor, which is supported by another 2 megapixel lens to do the blur mode.
For its part, the secondary camera is 16 megapixels and also boasts many of the characteristics of the main lens, including the bokeh effect. Of course, this secondary camera uses only the flash on the screen. However, the quality of the selfies is not bad at all, even if there is not enough light.
7. Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite
With a price of only 200 euros on Amazon, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has a secondary sensor Samsung S5K5E8 of 5 megapixels, focal aperture f / 2.0 and pixels of 1.12 um in size, with which you can get bokeh photos that are nothing. evil. For its part, the main sensor is a 12 megapixel Sony IMX363 with f / 1.9 focal aperture and 1.4 um pixels in size.
For selfies, the company added a 24 megapixel front camera with f / 2.0 focal aperture and 1.00 um pixels in size to this model.
