7 Differences between ios 11 and ios 10 of the iphone
Table of contents:
Apple's latest Keynote has shown us the next generation of Apple mobile software. iOS 11. We're interested in what's new in the iPhone system, but we're also interested in 'how much' new it is. Therefore, we are going to do a small (and old) exercise, and we are going to look for the seven differences between iOS 11 and its predecessor, iOS 10. So we can put the improvements and news of this operating system into perspective, the great comparative advantage Apple versus all its competitors. Let us begin.
Message Redesign
Apple continues to bet on text messages. After including stickers in iOS 10, Tim Cook's now include support for the cloud, easier to backup and also the ability to sync SMS history with other devices (Apple, of course). iOS 10 wanted to make Messages more beautiful, and iOS 11, more practical.
Apple Pay
Apple's payment app appeared with iOS 10, and offered useful software to make payments in stores through NFC connection. Now, with iOS 11, the difference is that those payments also reach users. With the new update you can make payments with Apple Pay from contact to contact. Again, they both have to have Apple (and iOS 11).
Siri
Siri is still the artificial intelligence to beat. 375 million people use it, and that speaks for itself. In iOS 10, compatibility with third-party applications was included, which allowed us to open WhatsApp or order a Pizza from Siri. Now, in iOS 11, the interface is redesigned and Siri learns to translate and speak different languages.
App Store
The App Store did not experience very big changes when iOS 10 came out. However, for iOS 11 they have opted for a revision of its interface, seeking an aesthetic balance with Apple Music. In this new store we will be able to find real-time previews of the apps, as well as a new recommendations section called “Today”.
Control center
In iOS 11, the control center has undergone a redesign to focus more on 3D Touch, available from the iPhone 6S onwards. The change is mostly aesthetic, seeking to make tool management more visual and simple.
In iOS 10, the control center received a second window, differentiating the use of apps like Spotify from AirPlay or the flashlight. The flashlight received precisely in iOS 10 the possibility of increasing the intensity of the halo of light using 3D Touch. Therefore, iOS 11 once again bets on aesthetics and iOS 10 on practice.
Camera & Photos
In iOS 11, Apple has been working hard with its camera. Now, videos are compressed using the H.265 codec, which significantly improves the result . The software has been completely redesigned to improve HDR mode as well as sharpen images in low light. A Boomerang function has also been included, similar to the one that Instagram now has.
iOS 10 for its part included the possibility of taking photos in RAW format, changed the location of the buttons and allowed you to listen to music while the photos were taken. Additionally, Live Photos received new filters and a stabilizer mode.
Maps
Maps receives a highly demanded novelty for iOS 11: synchronization with Do Not Disturb mode. When activated, the system will recognize that we are driving and deactivate notifications so that they do not affect GPS navigation. In iOS 10 interesting options were also included such as being able to avoid tolls or recognizing where we have the car parked. iOS 10 also tweaked the Maps interface, making it more aesthetic, while iOS 11 has kept it.
These are the differences, in comparison, of both operating systems. What do you think? Do you think it has been a big change? Or that it has not been so much? Your comments are always welcome.
