Since Xiaomi confirmed MIUI 12 at the beginning of the year, expectations have not stopped growing. While there is no official comment on the features that this new version will bring, there is already a world of speculation about some of its possible functions.
Some based on features that did not finish arriving in MIUI 11, and others in betas that some users are testing. Do you want to know what you could expect from MIUI 12? There are no certainties, but these would be some of the functions and dynamics that are most likely to be part of MIUI 12.
New "anti flicker" mode for the screen
Has it happened to you that the screen shows lines when you lower the brightness? Not only can it cause a heart attack since we think the screen broke, but it is also quite annoying. According to a video that What's New shared, Xiaomi is working in an anti-flicker mode to avoid this problem and improve the display even when we have the brightness set to the minimum on the screen.
An option that can be activated and deactivated from the mobile configuration, without complicating it with strange parameters.
Better control of screen time
MIUI's version of Digital Wellbeing would be enhanced by a number of new options. These would allow the user to track the time spent on the mobile in detail. For example, the possibility of seeing the time we spend in each application and more options to analyze our habits in specific periods is added.
You can see how you spend time on your mobile at certain times, or which days you are most attached to your mobile. A series of interesting reports for those looking to reduce the time they spend on the device or the amount of energy they spend on certain applications.
Improve multitasking
MIUI could improve some aspects in order to facilitate users some dynamics. For example, multitasking will be improved, according to a previous leak in the Xiaomi Community. If you are one of those who have many applications open on your mobile, you will be interested in this novelty as it greatly speeds up the process.
Although MIUI 11 already has quite agile dynamics to see all open apps, it seems that MIUI 12 will implement a system to switch between applications in a more intuitive way.
New way to focus
Focus Mode would be a new MIUI 12 tool to help users forget, for example, Instagram and WhatsApp, for a moment and focus on their work. This mode to avoid distractions on the mobile allows you to configure different periods of time.
So you can set Focus Mode to be active for short periods of about 20-30 minutes, or set a longer span of up to 3 hours.
The What's New video shows all the options available in this possible new version of MIUI 12 Digital Wellbeing and some settings.
Notification groups
Despite the configurations offered by mobiles, notifications are always a headache. So Xiaomi seems to apply a different strategy in MIUI 12 to deal with the notification overload.
As leaked in the Xiaomi Community, a notification filtering system will be included to organize them as a group. That is, the notifications would continue to be displayed in the drop-down menu, if the user wishes, but grouped.
So with a simple glance you could see the notifications of the apps that interest the most or of certain contacts.
New gesture and navigation dynamics
Several of the functions that have been leaked so far, or that MIUI 12 is speculated to bring, are focused on improving the user experience through dynamics and functions that simplify processes.
And among them, it seems that MIUI 12 will debut the Android 10 navigation gesture system. A radical change that speeds up almost any action that we want to carry out from the mobile. For example, go back to recent apps or switch between apps.
Dark mode for all system apps
Dark Mode seems to be getting better in different ways. Some report that they will add more options to unify the experience and will allow to force this mode in the system apps.
So far, MIUI 11 only has a switch to activate the default Dark Mode and schedule specific periods to be applied automatically at the system level. We will have to wait to see if MIUI 12 will really bring any significant change to this dynamic.
As we said at the beginning of the article, there is no official comment on MIUI 12, so we do not know for sure what combination of functions the new version will bring. Perhaps some of the leaked features will only be part of future MIUI 11 updates. So we just have to wait to see what Xiaomi has prepared for MIUI 12.
