You finally got it. You have acquired one of the star mobiles of the moment. Whether you have decided on the Samsung Galaxy S8 or the Samsung Galaxy S8 +, at first you may miss some functions or advantages of these devices. We have put together a series of tips for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 + that can be useful to squeeze all the juice out of these smartphones.
1. Change the location icon to always see it
Within the notification panel of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 +, we have a large number of different icons. So many that there are some that are not visible at first glance. By default, one of these icons is the one corresponding to the location. But, of course, we run the risk of forgetting that the GPS is on after using an app like Google Maps or anyone who wants to access our position. Something that causes the battery to drain much faster.
To avoid this, our advice is to bring the GPS icon to the fore. The first thing we have to do is open the notification panel and unfold it completely. Now we should see up to 12 different icons and some more if we drag our finger horizontally. The one for the location is by default on the second screen.
We press the icon with the three vertical dots and on Button Order at the top right. We go to the second screen with icons and drag the Location button to the lower space. We should see that it is fixed in this space. Afterwards, we return to the first screen and drag the icon to the top. By the way, if we want it to always be displayed without having to display the notification panel at all, we will have to place it among the first six icons.
2. Change the resolution of the Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 +
By default, the resolution of the two mobiles is lower than what their screens can give. The reason is to save battery. But if you want to fully enjoy the experience of these smartphones, you can set the resolution to the maximum through the Screen and Screen Resolution menu.
3. Set the blue screen filter
If you are going to use the mobile during the night before going to bed, this option is likely to interest you. The blue light filter reduces the impact of blue hues on the screen. Although there is quite a controversy at this point, everything indicates that this light can affect the ease with which we fall asleep. Therefore, it can give you a lot of play to have this mode activated at certain times and thus not have to remember to activate it every night.
This mode appears as an icon in the notification panel, but you can also find it in Settings, Display and Blue light filter. The most convenient option is to activate this mode from dusk to dawn. Of course, we will have to give the program permission to access our location. We can also customize it at our own discretion.
4. Test how apps and games behave in full screen
Let's face it. It's a shame that the infinity screen only works for certain apps that have been adapted to the 18: 9 widescreen format. In unsupported apps and games, the mobile by default cuts two stripes at the ends to keep its original format. However, you can try to see how other programs work in full screen. To do this, you have to go to Settings, Screen and Apps in full screen.
5. Use other means of security than the fingerprint reader
It is evident that the fingerprint reader is not the star functionality of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 +. To achieve a near-borderless infinity screen, the company has moved it to the back of the computer. So far, everything normal. Many computers incorporate a fingerprint reader on the back.
However, to maintain the minimalism of the design, it has been placed at the same height as the rear camera. That will cause us to end up placing our finger on the camera sensor more than once. In addition, it is not easy to access it on a larger format mobile such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 +. Our advice is that you bet on another method like the iris reader to avoid dirtying the camera.
6. Activate the multi-window
Multi-screen or multi-window is a very useful feature on large-screen mobiles. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 (5.8 inches) and the Samsung Galaxy S8 + (6.2 inches) are. So you can use two apps at the same time in the same window. However, this function is disabled by default.
To start it, you have to go to Settings, Advanced Functions and Multi window. In this way, when you press and hold the left button to show the list of open apps, you can configure the multi-window.
7. Set the game mode
We have already said that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 + use a resolution lower than the maximum by default. If you want to maintain this resolution and normal system performance, but use the phone's full potential when playing games, it will be useful to activate the Game Launcher. These set of tools are used to boost the performance of the S8 during the game. In addition to changing the power used, you can also disable mobile alerts when playing or recording your games. The Game Launcher is activated through the Settings, Advanced Features and Games menu.
