Do you have a Huawei P20 Pro or are you thinking of buying one? If you are already an Android user, you surely know how to navigate the system, applications and settings. But this P20 Pro has more than one hidden feature that you will hardly find. Fortunately, we have thoroughly examined the Software for you and here are the five most interesting tricks you should know to use your Huawei P20 Pro.
Activate the Always-on mode of the display
The Always On mode or Screen always on consists of the terminal showing some information with the screen off. The interesting thing about this mode, especially on OLED screens like this Huawei P20, is that the information it shows is very little, and it consumes less battery.
To activate the always-on screen you must go to 'Settings', 'Security and privacy' 'Screen lock and keys' and finally, we access the option 'Always show information' which is disabled by default. If we enter, we will see how the option to activate the screen always on throughout the day shows us. Or, choose different times. For example, if we only want it to show us the information while we are sleeping, we can choose a time from 22:00 to 7:00 to see the time during the night without having to turn on the terminal. It is really useful, although it only shows battery information, date and time of the device.
Change screen resolution
The Huawei P20 Pro has a Full HD + screen resolution (1440 x 1080 pixels) This resolution can be changed through the system settings to HD +. In this way, the terminal will save more battery, since the density is not the same. Specifically, it will reach 1440 X 720 pixels. To change the resolution, we go to 'Settings', 'Screen' and enter the option 'Screen resolution'. There we can choose a default one. Or, let the device change automatically to save more battery.
The change in resolution is hardly noticeable in general lines. Yes when we are going to watch a video, movie or series or when we look at photographs.
Get around the system with a navigation dock.
If the buttons on the screen bother you, Huawei offers different alternatives. The easiest and most feasible are the gestures through the fingerprint reader. But there is a very interesting novelty in this P20 Pro. And it is that a small dock has been enabled on the screen to carry out the controls. Unfortunately, we cannot choose this option as an alternative to the gesture bar, the navigation bar or the gestures in the fingerprint reader. But if we choose this last option and the dock, we will not have a keypad that occupies the entire front. To activate this pointer, we go back to 'Settings' 'System information' and 'System navigation'.
Select the option 'navigation buttons do not appear on screen ' if you do not want the virtual bar to be shown. Then scroll to the bottom and click on 'Navigation dock'.
Now, you will see a dot on the screen. If we press once, we will backtrack. If we hold down a little longer and release, it will take us home. Finally , if we press and slide it will take us to multitasking.
Private space
One of the best tricks that we have found in this device is the one that we show you below. There is a feature in the privacy options that allows us to access a private space, with a different configuration. It is as if we were creating a new user within the device, but this user can only be accessed through a security code or fingerprint.
To configure the private space, we go to 'Settings', 'Security and privacy' and select the option 'Private space'. Now we register a key and a fingerprint. It cannot be the same device password, nor the same finger that we already have associated with. Once configured, we lock the device and access with the fingerprint or pin that we have configured.
From there we can create a totally different workspace, configure a Google account, download apps, etc.
Voice control
With the arrival of the Google Assistant we forgot about some add-ons from manufacturers, especially voice control that are added to devices. They may seem more useful than you think. Huawei incorporates different commands to speed up the experience on certain occasions, such as calls etc. If we go into 'Settings' and 'Smart assistance', you will see an option called 'Voice control'.
First of all, we find voice activation. It will ask us to configure it and say the command 'Ok Emily'. Once configured, with the screen off we can call Emily and ask her two things. Where's my phone, and have him call someone on your contact list. Another voice command option is Speed Call. We press the volume button down for a little longer and the P20 Pro will make a sound. When it issues, we can tell you who to call.
Other commands that we can do with the voice is to answer or reject a call. We will only have to use the words 'answer call' or 'reject call'.
These are the most interesting tricks that we have found for the Huawei P20 Pro. Do you have any more you want to share? Leave it in the comments.
