The battery is one of the most precious assets of our mobile. Statistically, it is the component that degrades the most over time. And it is that from 500 charge cycles (or 1000, depending on the battery), its degradation can cause a considerable reduction in autonomy. For this and many other reasons, it is essential to take care of the mobile battery to maintain its health. That is why today we will teach you five tricks to make it last longer over the years.
Avoid fast charging
Although fast charging technology is quite advanced today, putting in extra amps and voltage can cause a greater degree of battery degradation. To prevent it from wearing out more quickly, it is best to charge the mobile with chargers around 2A (currently there are 3, 4 and even 5A). We can see it in the text printed on the charger in question.
In some mobiles such as the Samsung Galaxy we can choose to deactivate the fast charging option from the System Settings themselves, generally within the Battery section. It will charge much slower, but at least we won't increase the drain on the battery (we can always charge them overnight).
Don't let the battery go to 0%
Another factor that causes batteries to degenerate much faster is letting them reach 0%. This is because at such low percentages, the electrons in battery cells lose their "ability to move" to manage energy. Letting the mobile discharge completely repeatedly can cause these same electrons not to work at 100% of their performance.
That is why charging any mobile around 20 or 30% battery is essential if we want to maintain its health for at least the first two years, regardless of its capacity.
Calibrate the battery every so often
The calibration process is essential to "synchronize" the actual battery percentage with the percentage shown by the mobile. Both percentages are sometimes out of calibration, which is why some phones turn off even before they reach 10, 20, or 30%.
Calibrating a battery is very easy. The only thing we have to do is download it completely until the terminal is turned off and with this shutdown, load it up to 100%. In this process, it is very important that the smartphone does not enter the system, since the calibration through software is done afterwards. It is advisable to do it every two or three months.
If you are going to stop using your mobile, do not leave it downloaded
One of the most common mistakes when you stop using a certain electronic device. Contrary to popular belief, leaving a battery discharged for a long time is counterproductive for the electrons in the battery cells. The reasons are the same as we have explained above.
How to proceed in this case? All we have to do is leave the load in half, around 50%. It is also recommended to carry out some charge per month to move the electrons.
If it burns, don't use your mobile
It may seem logical but not many people are sure of it. Batteries with a temperature of up to 40º can suffer irreversible damage that not only affects its health, but also the integrity of the device.
Obviously, we have to take into account that materials such as aluminum conduct (and dissipate) heat better, unlike glass, which tends to stay cooler. To check the temperature of the battery, we can resort to third-party applications like this one. It will notify us through a notification if the temperature reaches dangerous values.
