- Android Q, when will this version be released?
Android P will be the next version of Google's operating system, this version will be loaded with news and will provide an extra security. As usual, Google has not revealed neither the name, nor the characteristics that this version will have. At least they wo n't be revealed until Developer Preview 1, the beta for developers (and not so developers) where some of the features are already shown. In the leaks of the devices, we are seeing details even before their official presentation, and of course, with the characteristics of Android P the same thing happens. Here are five features that this next version will incorporate.
We must emphasize that all these characteristics have emerged through various sources. Many of them have not been confirmed by Google, and although it is most likely that if they come out with Android P, the American firm might not launch them. At least in the first beta.
New interface design
This feature is one of the first to emerge. Android P, the next version of Android could bring a new design. Maybe it incorporates rounded icons, it's something Google has been working on. Plus a more polished interface. We could see a new app drawer, or even the disappearance of it. New settings menu, new design within the apps, a renewed notification control… It is still too early to know, but it is very likely that Google will decide to give its interface a facelift.
It is committed to default themes that allow changing the pack of icons, animations and sounds. Other rumors pointed to a dark theme for OLED displays, but Google claimed that it will not.
Support for the invasion of the Noch
During the past Mobile World Congress, many of the manufacturers decided to launch devices with Noch. It is the name given to the frown, or the band with the sensors of the iPhone X, and that is its usefulness, adding the sensors, cameras and the speaker in a band that protrudes from the screen, in order to achieve that effect without frames so popular. Manufacturers have decided to be inspired, and Android will, of course, have to apply measures. The solution? Make the system compatible for Noch.
In this way, the applications will adapt to the frown on the screen. The taskbar will also do it, which will only show necessary information in order not to cut it. Most likely, Google services also support this feature. The developers for their part will have to adapt the applications. But there is no doubt that Google will provide tools to adapt them quickly.
Possibility to record calls
Yes, there are already applications that allow you to record calls. As well as devices that include it from the factory. But Android P could incorporate this feature as standard. This means that all Android phones with this version will have the function. It consists of course in being able to record the sound of a call. As usual, the speaker will hear your voice and record the other user's voice. At the end, you could ask that the call be saved. Most likely, the function is directly on the marker, in one of the controls.
Finally, we must mention that the duration of the recording would be 15 minutes, and that, depending on the country, they might not incorporate this feature.
Apps running in the background won't be able to access the camera
This is a new security method that Google will implement with Android P. Those apps that are running in the background will have access to the camera blocked. In this way, any malicious service or application will not be able to see you, because by default, it will not be able to enter the camera to see our face, or our environment. This does not mean that when we have an application open we cannot access the camera. Refers to processes and apps that work secondary, but are active.
What if an app that works in the background needs to access the camera? The truth is that no application or service that works in the background needs to access the camera, neither the front, nor the rear. In any case, you could need it once we are in the application that needs it, such as Instagram. Even so, it is recommended that when you install an app you take into account the permissions. From the Android settings they can be modified. If an app that doesn't need it asks the camera or microphone for permission, don't give it, it could be malicious.
Block SPAM calls
Finally, a feature that possibly everyone is wanting to have. Google will allow Android P to block calls from telecommunications operators or abusive advertising. That is, calls with SPAM. We can really block all those calls with unknown numbers, including the operators. Until now, Google had managed to filter operator calls by adding a warning when our phone rang. But this feature allows the call to no longer enter the phone.
This feature may depend on the manufacturer. A signature may not want to add it to their Smartphone, but most likely all Android Stock phones include it.
Android Q, when will this version be released?
Google really likes to play with its operating system, and it seems that the first beta of Android P will be released in mid-March. According to the latest rumors, it will be March 14, which will be PI Day. The final version could come out in late September or early October. As always, it all depends on the stability of the latest betas.
