Huawei, far from sinking before the imminent blockade of the United States, continues to unveil new mobiles. This time it was the Huawei P20 Lite 2019, a renewed device that notably improves in features and design over its predecessor, the Huawei P20 Lite 2018. To begin with, the new model arrives with four cameras, a more prominent screen with perforation for house the front sensor, as well as a higher performance processor and more storage.
But this year's P20 Lite has also greatly increased the battery capacity. From last year's 3,000 mAh, it is now 4,000 mAh (again with fast charge). There is nothing more than putting a mobile next to the other to realize that Huawei has changed the design of the P20 Lite 2019, improving it and updating it to the new times. If last year the Huawei P20 Lite 2018 arrived with notch and a main panel with hardly any frames, the company has managed to further reduce these thanks to the inclusion of a small hole in the screen where the sensor for selfies is housed. As Huawei itself has communicated, the P20 Lite 2019 has a screen-to-body ratio of 84%.

Again glass has been used for the construction, a material that gives very good results and that gives it an elegant and shiny appearance. If we turn it around, we also see differences, although these are practically concentrated in the photographic section. Now there are four cameras arranged instead of two. However, the arrangement of the rest of the elements remains the same. Camera in vertical position, fingerprint reader occupying the central part and the Huawei logo in the lower left. In general, both phones present a clean and minimalist look, with thin edges. It should be noted, however, that this year's P20 Lite is somewhat thicker and heavier than its predecessor: 159.1 x 75.9 x 8.3 millimeters and 178 grams of weight VS 148.6 x 71.2 x 7.4 mm (145 grams).
On the screen, this year it has grown slightly. If the P20 Lite 2018 came with a 5.84-inch, the current version does the same with a 6.4-inch. The resolution has not changed and is back to Full HD +.

2. Power and memory
How could it be otherwise, the P20 Lite 2019 houses inside a more powerful processor than the P20 Lite 2018. Specifically, it is powered by an eight-core Kirin 710 capable of working at a maximum speed of 2.2 Ghz. Its predecessor includes a Kirin 659, a somewhat less efficient chip, although it is true that they operate in a similar way and you will not notice much difference when it comes to working with simple apps and browsing. We wish the RAM had been expanded this year, but it hasn't. The P20 Lite 2019 again has 4 GB of RAM. Despite this, the company has behaved in terms of storage, which has gone from 64 GB last year to 128 GB (both models are expandable through the use of microSD memory cards).

3. Photographic section
One of the biggest differences between the P20 Lite 2019 and the P20 Lite 2018 is found precisely in the photographic section. Huawei has taken a big leap and has included four sensors in this year's terminal. It is a combo made up of a first 24-megapixel sensor followed by a second 8-megapixel sensor and two 2-megapixel sensors. Thanks to all of them we can capture images with different angles and portrait mode.
As we say, evolution is important. The previous generation landed with a dual 16 and 2 megapixel sensor, which, of course, is now somewhat behind. As for the front camera, it continues to offer a resolution of 16 megapixels, although the aperture has been improved, so it is capable of capturing more light and, therefore, allowing us selfies with greater brightness and luminosity.

4. Battery and system
And we reached a point where many users tend to pay attention to a lot when buying a phone: the battery. Well, in this section the P20 Lite 2019 also wins. The new model comes with a 4,000 mAh with fast charge, a capacity that is ahead of the 3,000 mAh of last year. In any case, it goes without saying that including more powerful features also made it necessary to increase the capacity of the battery, so it has been done with the greatest needs in mind.
Since it is a more current device, the Huawei P20 Lite 2019 is also governed by a more current system: Android 9 Pie under EMUI 9.0. The P20 Lite 2018 came standard with Android 8.0 Oreo under EMUI 8, although it will be able to update to Pie soon.

5. Price and availability
The Huawei P20 Lite 2019 is already available in some European stores to buy at a price of 280 euros. At the moment it is not for sale in Spain and the company has not given details about its arrival, although we think it will not take too long. If you are in a hurry to get a new mobile, and also the Huawei P20 Lite 2018 you liked and you think it fits your preferences, this model is available in stores and operators.
You can get it through PC Components, where it is at a price of only 190 euros. In Amazon you can find it even cheaper, at 176 euros plus three euros of shipping costs.
