How to choose a good place to eat on Google Maps

With the Google Maps application we can select, almost without fear of making mistakes, a place that is especially recommended for us and our tastes. And this why? Because the application learns from us, that we value the places we visit, and advises us on sites according to what those opinions say. Very recently, Google Maps launched a new personalized section for each of us. We can access it on the main screen of the application, in the third icon that we see at the bottom of it.

By clicking on this icon, the application will offer us a series of recommended places to visit, including restaurants and tapas places. At the top we have two icons, one to save the sites we prefer and another to add or remove areas of interest. These zones will be added automatically with your trips.

What time do I have to leave to be on time?

Yes, we already know that Google Maps tells you how long it will take to get to a place and you can do the calculation but, since we are dealing with computer applications, why not ask it to do the math for you ? It is very simple, you just have to do the following.

Imagine that you have met at five to have a coffee in a place you do not know how to get to. Well, to know what time you have to leave to be on time, put the place you are going to in the address bar. Then, the means of locomotion you are going to use, whether by car, by bus or on foot. Once you have chosen the means of transport, look at where we indicate in the screenshot below.

Here we must put either the time we have planned to leave or the time we want to arrive. Also in the third tab we have the option, if we have chosen public transport, to see what the last departure time is.

How to order an Uber or a taxi through Google Maps

If you have the Google Maps application installed on your mobile phone, you no longer need to open Uber's and it is possible to order a vehicle through the same Google application. And the price will be the same, it will not have an extra cost, with the advantage, in addition, of knowing what time you will arrive at your destination if you ask for it at that time. To request an Uber through Google Maps we are going to do the following.

When we have placed our destination in the application we will have to tell you that we are going to go in a paid vehicle. The corresponding icon is that of the human silhouette with a suitcase and a raised hand, as we see in the following screenshot. Pressing it will open a map with directions to get there and, at the bottom, two different parts, Uber or Mitaxi with an approximation of the price that each of the services would cost you. It is interesting that you click on both to be able to choose the cheapest one later, if your intention is to save, of course. It should be noted that you must have the Uber and MyTaxi applications installed even if you are not going to use them directly. Now it only remains to order the vehicle, wait for it to arrive and that's it.

How to add a stop to your itinerary on Google Maps

Imagine that you are driving with a friend and you get an unexpected detour, you run out of gas and you have to refuel or a friend has joined you on the excursion and you have to go pick him up. No problem, Google Maps allows you to add intermediate stops to your destination whenever you want and at the time you choose. To do this, you just have to do the following.

While you are in navigation mode with the application we give the screen back once. Next to the location place bar we have a small three point menu. A new pop-up window will open with a varied selection of settings. We must click on 'Add stop'. A third search bar will open where we will add the new destination and move it, pressing the three lines, up or down.

Send your location in real time

An effective way to tell your loved ones if you are okay and have arrived safely at your destination is by sharing your location with them in real time. To do this, on the home screen, press the three-striped menu that we have in the upper left part of the screen. A side window will open with several options among which is ' Share location '. On the screen below, click on 'Start' and we will choose how long we want to share where we are. Then we choose the right person and that's it.
