A few months have passed since Huawei announced EMUI 10, its new interface for Android 10, Google's operating system. The first terminals to receive the beta version were the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, and now they are the first to receive the final version. Some users have reported that the update with EMUI 10 and Android 10 is coming to their Huawei phones. But… are there really any changes from EMUI 9.1? We review the 5 features that improve with EMUI 10.
Dark mode improves on EMUI 10
The truth is that Huawei already included a dark mode in its mobiles, in the battery section. This made the devices with OLED panel turn off the black pixels to save a little more autonomy. Now, with EMUI 10, this dark mode or night mode improves considerably. Apps are seamlessly tailored, including third-party apps that already have their own dark mode. The colors of the icons change and are correctly visible with dark palettes. In addition, even Huawei's browser allows you to make web pages appear in dark mode.
New interface design
A new design has been added to the entire interface. The icons of some applications have a round shape, even those that are shown in the shortcut and the notification panel. Everything looks much more minimalist, according to what Google wants in Android 10. The applications also receive a new design much more optimized and adapted for better interaction.
Animations change
At the moment there is no Huawei mobile that has a screen at 90 Hz. However, the new animations make it seem that the interface moves at this frequency, since they are much more fluid. They also have a new, much more intuitive route, and you will notice this with the naked eye.
New always-on display designs
Huawei also announced that terminals with the 'Always-on screen' mode will receive new designs, colors and clocks. This screen shows the time, date and notifications when the terminal is locked. The feature is very useful on OLED panels, as blacks are dull pixels.
The camera app has a new design

Huawei's camera application has a new design in EMUI 10, it is much more minimalist and intuitive and the modes are much more ordered. In addition, the zoom is easier to use and much faster.
How to update my Huawei mobile to EMUI 10
The final and stable version of EMUI 10 is coming to China and other countries, so it may take a while to reach your device. To check if the update is available, you should go to Settings> About system> Software update. There you should check if it is already available to download and install EMUI 10 in its final version. It has a weight of approximately 4 GB.
The update is heavy, so you must have enough internal storage, as well as a battery of at least 50 percent, although I recommend that you have the device plugged in during the whole process. Also, make a backup of your data, as the terminal will need to restart.
If you have the EMUI 10 beta, you will receive the final update in a few days, although the beta program will likely continue until you unsubscribe.
