Android 9 Pie has been on the market for a while, although only for some devices, such as the Google Pixel or the Esential Phone. I have been able to test the new version of Android on a Google Pixel 2 XL. During this time I have missed some features. Which? Next, I tell you 5 that I would love to see them on Android 9 Pie.
App Home to control devices
In iOS there is a service called Home that allows us to control all connected devices. Of course, as long as they are compatible. In Google we also have a Home App that allows us to control the devices through the Google Assistant, but we would like to see something more similar to iOS. An app where you can group these devices and control them from there, change the color of the light, schedule the shutdown, synchronize it, etc. While it is true that there are third-party applications that do, Google should have its own service, just like Apple with Homekit.
Dark theme in apps
YouTube is one of the few apsp that have a dark mode.
Fortunately in Android 9 Pie the dark theme can be applied without having a wallpaper of that tonality. Unfortunately this only applies to the app and shortcut drawer. Settings and applications (even those from Google that are pre-installed in the terminal) do not include this dark mode. Some layers of customization, like EMUI if they apply a dark theme in all their applications and interface.
Customize the lock screen
The Android Pie lock screen is very simple. We have a clock widget, notifications and two shortcuts to the camera and the Google assistant. But we cannot customize these accesses. We cannot choose to open the WhatsApp App instead of the camera. Nor can we add another Widget other than the clock one.
Faster updates
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was released after the launch of Android Pie, but it does not have this version.
It is tedious to use a mobile with Android Pie and know that a much newer mobile has just been launched with an older version of Android. Updates have always been a problem on Android. If you do not have a Google device your mobile will take a few months to update, your mobile may even be new, but do not update. That is something that has to be solved. According to the big G, they are working harder and harder to fix the updates, but we still have no big changes.
Customizing the shortcuts
Andoid P shortcuts are added in the app drawer. Thanks to Artificial Intelligence these accesses are changed depending on our use. For example, if the terminal knows that every night after finishing work, I put a Playlist, it will show that shortcut. So in different situations. Personally, it is one of the features that I liked the most about Android Pie, but I would have loved to be able to customize it.
How? For example, asking him to do different actions without him having to learn them. Like every time you silence the terminal, add a shortcut to activate the alarm. Or, every time you turn on the mobile in the morning, add a button to add sound to the terminal.
