There are times when an image is not enough to reflect everything we need to communicate. And it is not enough to publish several photos, one after another, for our friends to pass and see. No. Sometimes we must include, in the same image, several at the same time, to have a nice set of everything we want to say, be it about our pets, a little trip we did or a nice tribute to our partner. It is what is called a photo collage and, of course, we can do it thanks to various free applications that we have at our disposal in the Google Play application store.

Google Photos

With one of the applications that we have, in a multitude of models, pre-installed on Android phones we will be able to make effective collages in a very simple way. To start doing them you just have to follow the following steps.

Open the application and go to the bottom bar of the screen where we find several tabs: photos, albums, assistant and share. We are going to stay with the 'Assistant'.
On the 'Wizard' screen we will be able to create various elements with our photos such as a movie, an album, a book to print or a collage. We choose the latter option.

The collage that Google Photos allows you is up to 9 images. In the mosaic, select the images from which the collage will be composed, then click on 'Create'.
The application will create the collage at its own discretion. It is the only drawback that we see in this application, that we will not be able to edit the collage to place the photos according to the position we want. What we can do is edit the image in full through different filters.

Layout

An application that is integrated into Instagram and whose main purpose is that you upload, directly, the collages that you make to said application. You can make the collages directly from the Instagram application, although you must download it beforehand. Once you download it, if you want, you don't have to open it again. To make a collage with 'Layout' we do the following.

The first thing to do is download and install it. It is free and does not contain ads and its weight varies depending on the device you have. Once done, we go to Instagram and press the button to upload photo.
We click on the small icon shown in the screenshot. Next, we choose the photographs from which we want the collage to be composed, maximum 9 images per collage.

We choose the collage layout at the top of the screen. We have several models to choose from.
On the next screen, we choose the order of the images, moving them sideways or up and down, depending on the design, with our finger. We can also mirror and flip the images, as well as put a margin on them. We click on 'next'.
We apply filters as always and click on 'Next' again.
If we now exit the app and go to our gallery, we will see how the collage has been saved automatically. If we want to publish our collage, we go back to the Instagram app and finish the process.

This application has ads and purchases inside but in its favor we can say that it is very light, just 11 MB has its download file. It is also very simple to use and on its main screen we have the option to make a collage. Of course, we click on it and start making our first collage with the application. For this we give permission to the storage section.

For the collage we can choose up to 18 photos. We choose the ones we want to include, being able to eliminate them by pressing the red symbol 'x' and when we have them click on 'Next'.

On the next screen we are going to choose the design we want for the collage, being able to choose from more than 20 predefined ones. We can adjust the frame of the included photos, giving the peaks a rounded shape, as well as choosing a color for them.

In addition to the design, we can add text, stickers, draw pictures on the collage with our finger… A great number of functions and all for free.

Pic Collage

The first thing we have to do when opening Pic Collage (free app, with ads and a weight that varies depending on the device) is to grant it permission to enter our storage section. When we open the application we have the possibility to choose what kind of collage we want to make, free or with frames. We choose the first option as it is the fastest and easiest.

As always, we choose the photos that will be part of the collage. This time we will be able to mount up to a maximum of 30 images in the same collage. We can connect with Facebook or Google Photos to be able to extract photos from these applications.
With the guide we are going to adjust the collage frames and at the bottom we have the pre-design of the frames so that you can choose the one that suits you best. We can change the arrangement of the photos by holding them down and dragging them.
Once we have it, click on 'ready' and save to the album.

Pic Collage Maker

And we finish with the selection with Pic Collage Maker, a free tool with ads and purchases inside and a weight of about 18 MB. The interface is similar to the previous ones: on the initial screen we choose what type of collage we want, whether with frames or free form. When choosing the frame, we have to select the photos that will make up the collage (20 maximum). The funny thing about this app is that the default designs are much more original than in previous apps, playing with the shapes. Of course, we can also vary the frame of the photos.
