When did you buy your current smartphone ? Has it been in the last twelve months? A study states that 38.8% of Spaniards have renewed their smartphone in the last year, with 77.9% being the number of users who have changed it in the last 24 months. Of the 35 million Spaniards who currently have a mobile phone and taking into account that the penetration of smartphones already exceeds the threshold of 80% in our country, according to this study, the number of mobile phones that have been renewed in the last 12 monthswould reach 11 million teams. But what kind of terminals do the Spanish buy? What budgets do you handle? The most curious thing about this study is that, beyond what we might think, most users do not opt for precisely cheap equipment. So much so that 21.4% of Spaniards say that they have spent at least 250 euros in the acquisition of their new equipment. How much have you spent?
But what are users looking for in their new next-generation smartphones?
It may seem illogical, but the truth is that many users do not buy high-end mobile phones in order to take advantage of their more advanced functions. In fact, only 39.7% say they know how to use them all. In contrast, only 15.8% admit that the only thing they do with their phone is to make phone calls and send messages, while 7% use it as if it were a landline: only to call. We must not lose sight of the fact that smartphones have more and more sophisticated features, so it is not surprising that many users have difficulties when using them.. But there is more. Smartphones have also become a symbol of social status, so that not a few people finally acquire a terminal for what it represents and not to satisfy their real needs.
The app that everyone wants
The world of applications is vast, but the truth is that everyone always downloads the same application. We speak, of course, the famous messaging tool WhatsApp. Almost half of Spanish users say they have never downloaded a paid application and those who have, mostly have done so through WhatsApp. In this sense, it seems that messaging applications are preferred by Spanish users. A 77.3% use them regularly. Next, with more discreet percentages, are bank applications (26.4%) and geolocation applications (22.4%).
Mobile phones, the jewel in the crown
Do you have your smartphone insured ? According to this study, carried out precisely by the insurance comparator Acierto, 21% of users have insured their smartphone or tablet on some occasion, right at the same point of sale. In this sense, 4 out of 10 contracting parties state that they have used the policy or believe that they will use it at some point. 25.8% consider that insurance is an unprofitable investment and regret having contracted it. Most insurance (about half) has a cost that does not exceed 25 euros, although the majority of users who have insured their mobile (73.7%) have a home policy that they do not know if it covers damage and theft from your smartphone ,which in many cases would be included.
