If the path of most phone manufacturers goes hand in hand with simplification when it comes to software, brands like Samsung choose to implement a large number of functions in their customization layers. A good example of this is the Samsung Galaxy Camera application, with a multitude of options that allow us to play with the image to obtain better photographs on a Galaxy S9, Note 8, A6, J5 or any Samsung phone that has the latest version of the app. A few days ago we saw several tricks to improve performance on a Huawei mobile. This time we have made a compilation of the best camera tricks for the Samsung Galaxy.
Take photos in RAW mode for later editing
If we want to use our Samsung Galaxy S10, S9 or S8 as the main camera, the best way to edit the photos through Lightroom, Photoshop and other raw editing applications is to activate the RAW Mode of photography.
To do this, we will click on the Settings gear icon within the camera app. Once inside, we will go to the Saving Options and activate the RAW Copies (Professional) box.
From now on, all images will save a RAW copy.
Animate photos to add movement
Since the latest updates to the Samsung Camera application, the company has added a new mode that allows us to take an animated photograph, in such a way that the phone captures the moment before the photograph is taken to generate what is commonly known as a GIF.
To activate this mode, we will access the Camera Settings again, although this time even the Animated Photos option in the Images section.
Once we have activated it, we can see the movement of the photos by clicking on the image in question.
Activate Scene Optimizer to take better photos
Although the Camera application does not have an Artificial Intelligence mode, it does have a Scene Optimizer, an option that identifies all possible landscapes and scenarios to adjust the camera settings to the scene conditions.
The mode in question can be activated in the gray point that will appear in the lower right corner of the Samsung camera interface. Once activated, the button will turn blue and will adapt all the image values (ISO, white balance…) to the object or scene to be photographed.
Corrects the deformation of the wide angle lens
Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 + or S10e with a wide angle lens? As you know, this lens generates a distortion in the image to collect more field of vision. Luckily, Samsung has a way to correct this distortion.
In Saving options within the Settings we can activate the Super wide angle correction option. All photographs taken with the wide angle lens will then be corrected to avoid bumps in the image.
Use Pro Mode to take control of photography
It is not for nothing that the Samsung Camera application is one of the most complete on the market. Like any professional camera, the app has a manual mode to alter parameters such as ISO, white balance, focus, aperture level and many other settings.
To activate the Pro Mode, as simple as swiping the camera interface to the right until you reach the aforementioned mode with the name of Pro.
Record videos in 4H UHD quality
Most Samsung mobiles have 4K video recording capabilities. The problem is that the option is not activated by default.
To record videos in 4K we will have to go to the Video size section (front or rear camera) in Camera Settings and activate the UHD option 3,840 x 2,160.
And in HDR10 +
Function recently introduced in the official application and which is still in the testing phase.
The process to record videos in HDR10 + is similar to the previous one, although this time we will have to go to the Advanced recording options section and activate the HDR10 + Video option.
Take photos and videos with your voice
If we have a tripod to take pictures on the mobile and we do not have any control or actuator to take the picture on our Samsung Galaxy, we can use our voice to operate the camera.
In Shooting methods within the Camera Settings we can activate the option in question in Voice Control. To take pictures we can say words like "Potato", "Smile" or "Shoot". In the case of videos, as simple as yelling “Record video”.
And with the palm of the hand
Although selfie sticks are out of fashion, they are still just as useful even after several years since their popularization.
In the case of selfie photographs, we can activate the camera's shutter by showing our hand through the Show palm option in the same Shooting Methods section.
Edit the camera modes that appear in the app
By default, the Samsung Camera app displays all the camera modes that the company offers. Instagram mode, Pro mode, Dynamic focus mode, Slow motion mode...
To hide these modes or reorder them according to our criteria we will have to access the Camera modes section. Then, we will click Edit Modes and finally we will choose the modes and the order of them that we want to be displayed in the application.
Activates permanent focus on objects
Ideal if we want to keep a certain moving body in focus, either in videos or in photographs.
Activating the automatic autofocus of objects on a Samsung Galaxy is as simple as accessing the Camera Settings, and specifically, the option of AF with tracking.
Once activated, we just have to click on the object to focus on in the camera and it will automatically track it.
And stabilization of the videos
If in addition to keeping the object in focus we want to improve the stabilization of the lens, we can do it through the same Camera Settings of the Samsung application. Specifically in the Video Stabilization option.
In the event that our mobile does not have optical image stabilization, the system will use digital stabilization to stabilize the videos.
