Expecting the Samsung Galaxy S11 to hit the market in the coming months, the Samsung Galaxy S10 in all its variants remains a best-seller. To this day, both the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10e and the Galaxy S10 Plus are still three of the best-selling terminals of 2019, and good proof of this is the amount of messages that we can find in HTCmania and XDA Developers around these. Are you a happy owner of any of Samsung's flagships? Take a look at these tricks to get the most out of your mobile.

Disable the Bixby button (or change its functionality)
We're not going to deny it: Bixby is a pain in the ass. By default, the dedicated Bixby button on the Samsung Galaxy S10 activates the virtual assistant created by Samsung. To deactivate the Bixby button we will only have to go to the application of the same name and click on the three Options points to access the Settings menu.
Within this menu we will go to the Bixby Key section and finally activate the option to Press twice to open Bixby. If we activate the Use simple press option, we can assign an application or quick command to the key in question so that it is activated by pressing the button. Camera, WhatsApp, Instagram, Gmail, Twitter, Google Chrome… The possibilities are practically endless.
Speed up system animations and improve performance
If we want to improve the performance of our brand new Samsung Galaxy S10e, we can resort to accelerating the animations to reduce the waiting time between action and action. To do this, we will go to the Settings application, and more specifically to the Advanced functions section.
Finally we will activate the option to Reduce the animations that we can find next to the Direct Share function. If we want to speed up the phone even more we can resort to the Developer Settings, which can be activated through the Compilation number section that we will find in Device information.
Once inside, we will press up to seven times on the section that we have just mentioned. Then we will access the Development Settings that will be activated below until we find the following sections:
- Window animation scale
- Animated scale transitions
- Animation duration scale
Finally, we will establish the figure at 0.5x within each of the options that we have just named.
Activate Samsung One UI gestures
It is true that Samsung's gesture system is quite rudimentary. If we want to activate it within our Galaxy S10 +, for example, it will be enough to go to the Screen section, and then to the Navigation Bar section.
Within this section we can see several options: the one that interests us is the full screen Gestures. Once activated, we can interact with the system as follows:
- Back: swipe up from the left corner
- Home: swipe from the center up
- Recent apps: swipe up from the right corner
Activate one-handed mode to control the phone with one hand
Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S10 + screen is not for all hands. Fortunately, Samsung has a specific mode for small hands that allows us to operate the phone with just one hand. It is enough to go to the Advanced functions section and then to Movements and gestures.
Then we will go to the One-handed Operation Mode option and activate the homonymous tab. Next, the virtual size of the screen will be reduced in such a way that we can reach all the corners of the phone without major problem.
Create custom gestures with One Hand Operation
Speaking of gestures, did you know that you can create custom gestures from anywhere on the screen to activate certain functions and applications? To do this we will have to resort to One Hand Operation, an application that requires the activation of Accessibility permissions to function properly.
After downloading the application, we will create different gestures and assign different actions based on our preferences. The application in question allows us to activate applications installed on the Samsung Galaxy S10 (YouTube, WhatsApp, Camera…) as well as perform the Back, Recent applications and Home functions.
We can also play with the pop-up menus that the application is capable of activating, either to open a list of applications or to control the volume or brightness.
Add a notification LED in the chamber hole
The hole in the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e and S10 Plus can be a nuisance. Did you know that you can grant it an additional function as a notification LED? Of course, with third-party applications. Notification Light is the one we will use on this occasion.
Within the application, we will only have to activate all those applications that we want the LED to notify us. Then we can choose the type of notification to show: from a simple circle that surrounds the camera to a colored point that is located next to the hole in the screen.
Since the latest Samsung One UI update, however, the app has stopped working on some devices. If this is your case, try installing an alternative to the latter.
Hide the camera notch with custom backgrounds
Still hating the screen notch? Although it can be hidden through the Samsung One UI settings, there are many wallpapers for the Samsung Galaxy S10 with which we can hide the notch in a quite peculiar and original way. Backgrounds like the ones we can see in the image of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 that we can see below this paragraph.
For this, we can resort to a multitude of applications entirely dedicated to this type of funds. We leave you below with two of the most popular:
Activate the screen with a double tap
A function that was released with the first Samsung Galaxy and that today is disabled by default in the Galaxy S10. Especially useful if our hands are small or we cannot reach the unlock button to turn on the screen.
To activate this function we will have to go to the Advanced functions section; specifically up to movements and gestures. Later we will go to the option to Press twice to activate and activate the tab that is right next to it.
Activate Reading mode and Dark mode
One of the main advantages of the AMOLED screens of the Galaxy S10 is based precisely on the switching off of the pixels when the panel shows an image in black. With the latest updates to Samsung One UI we can activate a Dark mode that changes the color of the system to black. How? Very easy.
Within the Screen section in the Settings application we will go to the Night Mode section and activate the Activate now option. We can also choose to program the mode in question from a certain time: any option is valid.
If we also want to reduce the blue light emitted by the screen, we will only have to activate the Blue light filter option by lowering the notification curtain.
Connect the phone to an external monitor with Samsung DeX
Perhaps the best trick for the Samsung Galaxy S10 in any of its versions. Using a USB type C to HDMI adapter we can convert the phone interface into a desktop system through the Samsung DeX application.
The way to proceed is very simple: we will only have to connect the cable to an external monitor and then to the USB type C connection of the phone. It will automatically show an interface like the one we can see just above this paragraph. Without installing applications. Without root.
Password protect apps and photos with Secure Folder
Although it is not possible to protect applications and files with the fingerprint sensor, we can do it with an unlock pattern very similar to that of Android. Thanks to the Samsung Secure Folder function we can hide any application, image or file in general without installing third-party applications.
The way to proceed is as simple as keeping your finger pressed on the application drawer. Then several options will be displayed: the one that interests us is the Secure Folder.
Now we just have to add all the applications and files that we want to hide. The process to access them, of course, will be somewhat more cumbersome, since we will always have to resort to Secure Folder. If we wish, we can also hide the latter through the system options, as we can see in the upper screenshot.
