- OTHER TRICKS FOR Twitter
If you used Twitter clients like Tweetbot, Talon, Fenix or similar, you will have noticed that they haven't worked for days.
And no, there hasn't been a service drop and it's not your mobile that has a problem. In fact, if you enter Twitter from its official app you will be able to access the social network perfectly. This is the latest strategy carried out by Elon Musk.
As of now, most third-party clients that were on the market no longer function normally. This is Musk's latest strategy to prevent users from entering the social network through an application other than his own. Something that may make some sense from a business point of view but has angered many users.
Login Blocking
If you have tried to enter the aforementioned Twitter clients, you may have seen that if you try to login with your account a message appears of mistake.
If you were already logged in, the problem changes, since what happens is that tweets cannot be loadednormally. Therefore, in practice, these third-party clients have been rendered useless, since we cannot log in with our account to publish or view other people's tuis.
The most striking thing about this decision is that it was carried out without prior communication. Twitter has never mentioned anything about preventing access to other clients, just one day they stopped working.
This has led many to even think that it could have been an error, something unlikely considering that they have had days to fix it and they haven't.
It doesn't look like an API problem
When this problem appeared, everything pointed to a possible Twitter API crash, which would have had a problem that would prevent access to it.
However, we can see that applications used for managing social networks such as Hootsuite do continue to function normally. There are even some less popular Twitter clients like Harpy that still work correctly. This leads us to think that it would not be a technical failure, but something perfectly thought out from the management of the social network.
Thus, a black list would have been created to which the most popular Twitter clients would have been added to try to convince their users that they go to the official application. However, other similar but less popular tools would not have been included in this list and would continue to work safely.
Why would Twitter want to kill customers?
Having almost clear that it is not a technical failure, many users will wonder why Twitter would have decided to end these unofficial clients. After all, they are a way of keeping many people hooked on the social network. And the answer is basically to have more control over what we see.
And many of Twitter's clients allow you to skip the algorithm(s) according to which the social network displays tweets. So yes, you would be part of the platform, but not in the way Elon Musk and his like would like.
So everything points to this being one of many controversial decisions that the new owner of Twitter has been making since it was did with the power of one of the most popular social networks in the world. And being so, it would not be surprising that it was a tantrum and that once a few days have passed we can re-enter the social network from clients as before.
