This is how Google Translate works without Internet
The first thing you have to do to know how Google Translate works without the Internet is to download the application. So you will have it installed on your phone and you can have it without having to go to the web.
Once installed, so that you can use it offline, you must decide which of all the available languages (more than 100) you will need. Well you can use the app offline as long as you have downloaded the language in question. Let's go to the next point!
How to download languages for Google Translate
There are two ways to know how to download a language for Google Translate, but first, please note that not all are available for offline mode; although the most widely used, such as Spanish, English, French, German or Chinese, are.
- To download them, enter your application and click on the menu.
- Select “Offline translation”.
- A list will appear with the languages you have downloaded, if you have already done this step.
- You will also see, below, a larger list, with all the languages available for download.
- To download a new one, look for the one you want from that list, and all you have to do is click on the down arrow icon that appears to the right of each of the languages. And ready!
Another way to download them is directly from the translator. That is to say:
- You have to enter the application as if you were going to translate something.
- In the text box, click on the little arrow that appears next to the language in question.
- A list will appear again, similar to the previous one, with the languages downloaded and those that are not.
- The process is exactly the same, you just have to hit the arrow.
Important: If you want to delete some of the downloaded languages, just press the trash can icon that appears in the list at language side.
Warning: If the download arrow does not appear on any of them, it is because they are not available offline.
How to use the simultaneous translator without Internet connection
Once you have followed the steps above, knowing how to use the simultaneous translator without an Internet connection is a breeze. It's as simple as making a translation just as you would when your device is connected to the network.
That is to say: select the two languages in which you want to do the translation; hover over the text box and write what you want to translate. If you haven't downloaded any of the languages, the app itself will tell you; You only have to connect to the Internet to translate or download it when you have a network.
On the other hand, you should know that the option to translate by voice, or hear how the translated text is pronounced, is not available in offline mode…
