How to remove Google Photos from a device
Before you know how to remove Google Photos from a device, you have to keep in mind that this Google functionality will not disappear entirely. In other words, even if you delete the application, it will continue to be associated with your Google account and also available on your phone if you want to use it again. Still, there are two ways you can go about how to remove Google Photos from a device.
- The first from Play or Apple Sotore: enter the application, search for Goolge Photos and since you will already have it installed on your phone it will appear the option e “open” or “uninstall”. You must opt for the latter.

Once you know how to remove Google Photos from a device, we'll tell you other tricks about this app. Take note!
How to delete photos from your device but not from Google Photos
When you have an account of this application synced with your phone, photos are deleted in both galleries, but there is an option to know how to delete photos from the device but not from Google Photos to free up some space on your phone's memory.
Important: If you have sync turned on, if you delete a photo from gallery, it will be deleted also from Google Photos; therefore, you must follow these steps to keep it in the application:
- Enter Google Photos and the photo you want to delete.
- Hit the three dots that appear at the top right.
- You will see that just below the photo appears the icon of a crossed out mobile phone, and below written “Remove from device”.
- Clicking there will delete the image from your mobile but it will remain in Google Photos.
- If you do not have the backup activated, the app itself will warn you that if you delete it you will lose it, as seen in the following image.
Another option to do it in a more automated way is to enter the Google Photos settings and press the option “Free X GB” (You can see it in the image of the next point). The app itself explains that a backup copy of these photos or videos has been made and that you can delete them from the phone to free up space, since they will be stored in the cloud.
I don't want Google to save my photos
Now that Google is starting to charge you when you go over a storage limit, you may not want Google to save your photos. There's also several things you can do about it. We'll tell you!
In the Google Photos settings (by pressing the icon probably with your photo in the upper right part) and then clicking on the little arrow next to your email, you will see that there is an option called “Use without any account”. Well, if you click there, Google Photos will no longer be associated with your Google account and, therefore, with your phone. The photos you already had will still be there, and you can use it as a normal photo gallery. Of course, if you deactivate that option again and activate synchronization, all your photos will appear there again.
You can also turn off Google Photos sync and backup, so it doesn't automatically save them to the cloud You'll find this option in Google Photos settings, “Settings” and unchecking or checking the box. Once again, you should know that the moment you turn it back on, it will create a copy of all the photos since the last time you turned it off.
