Say goodbye to deleting Gmail emails by mistake with this function
Table of contents:
The vibration on mobile phones can have a very specific purpose for the usability of certain applications. For example, it is common for our phone to vibrate when we uninstall an application. This is your way of telling us that the task has been completed successfully.
The same goes for the haptic feedback from the keyboard when typing. It is satisfying to press the keys on the virtual keyboard and that they respond with a small vibration. They inform us that they have been clicked and this response invites us to continue clicking and writing. If we are used to receiving this 'impulse' and we try to deactivate it, the writing will become very strange to us.
To vibrate or not to vibrate? That's the question
There are times, however, when the use of haptic feedback in applications is so subtle as to be barely noticeable. This is the case of Gmail and its useful swipe function in the application to archive or delete emails. If we enter the Gmail application, within our email tray, we can slide each one of them to one side or the other to order different actions, such as being archived or deleted.
In this case, when we slide the mail to one side and we feel the vibration we will be before a point of return That is, if we don't we want to continue with the archive/delete action we can always back out when we notice the haptic feedback. The bad? It's too subtle and there are times we don't even notice it.Sometimes it doesn't even appear.
That's why Gmail is updated to offer a more satisfying experience in this sense, so that we don't accidentally delete an email again Believe us, it hasn't happened just once: while scrolling through the emails, we accidentally swiped to one side and deleted the message. If we realize it, we can always reverse the action thanks to an 'undo' message that appears on the lower screen. But if not, we will have lost it forever.
In the next update we will finally have fixed the vibration in this Gmail function which we can access from the settings menu, 'Settings', 'General settings' and 'Actions when sliding your finger'. Within this section we will be able to adjust what we want to do:
We have two different actions: slide your finger to the right and to the left. We can award all of these shares to each of the sides… or the same to both.
