Table of contents:
Instagram was born as a platform to upload photos. But soon the functionality of the videos came to her, initially with the idea of uploading short videos. However, this video feature on Instagram has been so successful that it has diversified. Currently, you have four different possibilities to upload moving images to the social network.
Thus, when you upload a video to the platform you can choose between uploading it to Feed, Stories, Reels or Instagram TV .
Each of these ways of uploading videos has its own characteristics. In this post we are going to show you the differences between each of them, as well as showing you how you should upload the videos in each of the available ways.
Feed
If you upload a video to the Feed your followers will be able to access it in the news section. Therefore, it will be available to anyone who follows you. But these videos have a limitation, and that is that their maximum duration is 60 seconds If you want a longer video, you will have to opt for another option. It also has the peculiarity that the video will stay there forever, unless you delete it. The steps you must follow to upload a video to the Feed are the following:
- Open the Instagram app
- Press the button + at the top of the app.
- If you have the video in the gallery, select the one you want to post on Instagram. If you want to record a new video, click on the camera button.

- Add if desired filters or effects.
- Once you're done editing, tap New Post, and the video will be ready for your followers to see.
Stories
Stories came to Instagram to successfully turn it into a competition for Snapchat.Unless it is a live video, cannot be longer than 15 seconds, although you can upload a longer video divided into different clips. The main characteristic of the stories is that they disappear after 24 hours, unless you save them in Highlights. In addition, you will be able to choose which of your followers can see them and which ones cannot. The steps to upload a video to Stories are as follows:

If you want to upload a long video, IGTV is the only way available to you. This tool allows you to upload videos of between 60 seconds and 15 minutes if we enter from the mobile application or up to an hour from the web version.
A fragment of the video that you have uploaded will appear in your Feed, as well as the button so that other users can see it in its entirety whenever they want . The specific IGTV section has disappeared because users seemed not to be too interested, although its own application continues to exist. To upload a video to IGTV, the steps to follow are the following:
- Enter the Instagram app and press the button +.
- Select the video you want from the gallery.
- If the video is longer than 60 seconds, two options will appear: upload as a short video or upload to Instagram TV. Select this second option.
- Edit and add the filters you want.
- On the final screen, click on New Post.
Remember that if you want the video to last more than 15 minutes you must upload it from your computer. The steps to follow for this are the following:
- In your browser, enter the Instagram website and log in.
- Enter within your profile by pressing your profile picture.
- Enter the section IGTV.
- Press the button Upload.
- Select the video you want to publish and drag it to the indicated place.
- Fill in the required information on the right side of the screen.
- Press the button Publish.
Just like when you uploaded it from your mobile, you will be able to see how the video will appear in your Feed. In principle, what you will be able to see in it will be a fragment, but when your followers press the corresponding button they will be able to access the video in its entirety. This is the only way you can share through Instagram a long video, although it is something that at the moment does not seem to have been very attractive for users .
