TikTok will also remove Donald Trump's incitement videos
After the incidents that occurred on January 6 at the United States Capitol, many social networks chose to cancel Donald Trump's accounts to avoid greater evils. Thus, Facebook, Twitter or Twitch will no longer allow the still president to make publications. The case of TikTok is different, since the president does not have a profile in this application. But even so, the social video network has not stood idly by and has found a way to stop Trump.
Objective: avoid greater evils
What TikTok has done is basically report banning the videos related to the incidents that took place a couple of days ago. Mainly, all the messages in which Trump, albeit in a veiled manner, incited those who participated in the riots to continue doing so, have been deleted. These messages are not published in a personal account of the president, but have been disseminated by other users, so the message continues.
The reason why these messages have been banned is to avoid bigger problems. Especially until next January 20, the date on which Trump will definitely cease to be president to leave his place to Joe Biden. In order for this transition to take place calmly and peacefully without any further disturbances, most social networks are opting to prevent messages encouraging violence from spreading further.
Goodbye to the Trump videos of January 6
As we have been able to read on Techcrunch, TikTok is going to remove those videos in which the president addresses the Capitol raiders reminding them that they are special, praising their actions even though they are told to leave. That video was originally published on Twitter, but it has subsequently spread through different networks until it also reached the video portal.
Videos of people reporting what happened at the Capitol will continue to be available. Those that will be eliminated are those in which some kind of praise for the violent acts can be intuited, among which some of Trump's messages stand out. The idea is to avoid the possibility of more violent acts being carried out.
Incitement to violence
The TikTok terms and conditions of use mention the possibility of removing all videos that may incite violence. And it has been considered that these appearances by Trump, which do not end up condemning the events, can lead other people to commit violent acts. Therefore, it is perfectly possible to delete them without leaving the conditions of use.
Trump and TikTok, a war that comes from afar
It is not the first time that Donald Trump and TikTok have had an altercation. Last July, the former American president already launched his intentions to ban the use of the platform in the US in the midst of a trade fight with China. And it seems that, given the removal of this content, the antipathy between the platform and Trump is totally mutual.
