Samsung televisions with smart TVs are becoming more complete. The company is making a great effort to include all the applications and services that users demand. A clear example is the recent inclusion of the Apple TV and Apple Music app. Now, Samsung is updating some models with the ability to choose between three smart assistants: Alexa, the Google Assistant, or Bixby.
The truth is that Amazon Alexa already began to be implemented on Samsung TVs in early 2020, and all new models come with this built-in assistant, along with Bixby, Samsung's personal assistant.Google Assistant was not available until now All 2020 models will be able to upgrade to add the third virtual assistant to be used on the TV.
With this addition, controlling our home's accessories through the television is easier. Although Bixby can perform tasks within the TV, such as opening an app, adjusting the sound, etc. You cannot control some connected accessories in the home For example, light bulbs, lamps, the thermostat... Therefore, if we activate the Google Assistant or Alexa on the television , it will no longer be necessary to pick up the mobile and say 'Ok Google' to summon the Assistant or pause the content so that our smart speaker recognizes the voice. We only need to bring the remote closer to our mouth to speak into the microphone.
Of course, we can also control some options within the television itself with Alexa or Google Assistant, such as asking for the weather, asking play music, show action series and more.
How to set up the Google Assistant or Alexa
As I mentioned, the integration will come through a TV update and only for those models launched in 2020. They are as follows .
- QLED Q Series (8K & 4K)
- 2020 Crystal UHD LCD TV (UTU series)
- Frame and LCD Serif (2020)
- The Sero and Terrace LCD TVs
At the moment, only the UK, France, Germany and Italy have the update available that adds the ability to choose a new attendee. Next year it will reach 12 more countries. Spain is expected to be included in the list. To change the assistant, all we have to do is enter the TV settings, click on the 'General' section and In the option where it says 'Voice', select between the two new assistants available.
