WhatsApp continues to add new features to its application. One of the features that will soon be coming to the Facebook messaging app is messages that self-destruct or temporary messages. That is, they will only appear in the application for a while and then they will disappear. However, there is a possibility to prevent these temporary messages from disappearing from WhatsApp
According to the WhatsApp page itself, users will have the possibility of activating or deactivating temporary messages, making each message they send through the app have a duration of 7 days, without the possibility of reducing or extending the term.Of course, we can choose in which chat we want to activate these temporary messages, so that they do not affect all the conversations. In the case of groups, it will be the administrator who decides whether or not to activate the option of messages that expire after 7 days.
This way, when you send a message, it will be deleted after 7 days, even if the user hasn't read it. Although WhatsApp mentions that there are possibilities to read them even if they disappear.
Ways to continue viewing messages after 7 days
First of all, even if the message expires in the application, if we have notifications with preview activated we can see what it said, since that the notification will not be removed automatically. Another option to keep the message is to take a screenshot of that conversation, since WhatsApp will not be able to delete that image saved in the gallery. Also copy the message and paste it into the Notes app or into another conversation.
If we do not have the temporary messages option activated and we quote a message that does expire after 7 days, the response will not it will be eliminated. Therefore, we will be able to see what the message said even when the original has disappeared. The same thing happens when forwarding a temporary message to another chat that does not have the option activated. The original message will be deleted, but the one you forwarded will remain.
Finally, if the user makes a backup before 7 days, the message will be saved in the backup and when it is recovers (either by reinstalling the app or switching to a new device), the message will remain permanently.
WhatsApp warns that this new function should only be used with trusted people Although the temporary messages option can be very useful for To keep a conversation more private, the recipient has many ways to save that message.
Temporary messages will be available soon and will reach all platforms: iOS, Android, KaiOS and the web and desktop version. To activate or deactivate temporary messages, we just have to go to the chat or group, click on the name and access the 'Temporary messages' option. Finally, click on the 'Activate' option. If we want to deactivate them, we just have to follow the same steps and click where it says 'Deactivate'.
Is this feature worth using? It can be very useful if you need to tell someone something important, but you don't want them to know it is recorded or that when he checks your conversation, he does not remember that message. It is also very useful if you use WhatsApp to get in touch with your customers or to send information to people who are not in your trusted circle. In my case, I use this feature when I need to send the location to a messenger: it will help them find my address and I can rest assured that after a week the location will disappear from the chat.
