These are the new Waze alerts while driving
Table of contents:
Drivers have several traffic apps that make the journey easier. With a simple glance they can know if there is a lot of traffic in a certain area, if there was an accident, if speed cameras have been reported, etc.
But there's a feature that no navigation app has implemented, and now it's coming to Waze. A new feature that could save drivers' lives.
Waze will alert you if there is a railroad crossing nearby
As the Waze team mentions, the app will alert you if there is a level crossing before you reach a railway crossing. This information has been provided by different organizations and rail network groups, and then verified by Waze volunteer editors.
As you can see in the image above, Waze will notify you sufficiently in advance if there is a level crossing on your way for the driver to be attentive or decide to take another route. This alert will be displayed on the map and will be visible until the car crosses the railway
Taking into account that not all level crossings are correctly signposted, and on many occasions they are abandoned, this new feature makes a difference in driver protection. On the other hand, keep in mind that not all drivers feel safe going through a railroad crossing, so these alerts may give you enough leeway to improvise another travel route.
And if you don't think it's convenient to receive these types of alerts because you're overwhelmed with so many messages, you can deactivate it with a few clicks.
Just go to Settings >> Map Display >> Alerts >> Level Crossings, and disable the “Alert me while I'm driving” option. And of course, you can change this setting as many times as you want.
This new feature is now available with the latest Waze update on iOS and Android.
