If you use Gmail on your mobile or tablet, it is likely that it has recently been updated. This latest update brings a new section or Meet button, which allows us to start meetings via video call in the app itself. If you don't use Meet meetings, this button might bother you. Fortunately there is an option to disable it. So you can do it.
Disable the Meet button is very simple. First of all, you must enter the Gmail App from your iPhone or Android.Next, display the side menu of options. To do this, click on the three lines that appear in the upper area. When the side menu opens, click the Settings button. Next, select your email account.
Gmail allows us to disable the function in a certain account. Therefore, if we have two accounts -for example, a personal one and a work one-, we can deactivate the button in one of them and leave it activated in the other to use the function.
When accessing the account, in the General section, you will see the possibility of deactivating the 'Meet' tab. SJust press the side button and the tab will disappear. Do the same for all the accounts you have within Gmail. If you need to enable the button to start a meeting again, follow the same steps and check the box.Then close the app and open it again. The tab will appear again.
Can I start meetings with the button disabled?
When you have the tab disabled, you won't be able to start meetings from the Gmail app itself. However, if you don't want to activate the tab, youyou can also start a meeting through the Google Meet app. This video calling app syncs with your account from Google, so you can also make a video conference by adding to your Gmail contacts or sharing the link by email.
