- OTHER TRICKS FOR Android Auto
Do you use Android Auto on your trips? So by now you know that Google Maps is not the only option. In fact, there are others that can be considered better such as Waze An application that is now also owned by Google but has a more interesting approach to assist you on the road. It not only guides you step by step to the destination with updated maps. It also has almost real-time information on accidents, obstacles or even radars on the road.Very useful to be aware of everything that you will find on the road. But beware, there are more useful functions when you connect your mobile to the car via Android Auto
How to share route and arrival time
This function is especially useful when you are going on a trip with more people in different cars. Or when you simply want to inform others of the time of your arrival or make known the route you are following So they know when and where to wait for you, for example. Well, you can share it quickly and easily before or during (do not tamper with Android Auto while driving) the trip.
All you have to do is click on the route information tab. This displays the screen with route information and several other options. Among them is the Share route. Selecting this function displays a new tab with two rows. The first is from the people you have associated as quick contacts in Waze If you don't have any, just select one of the slots and choose the corresponding contact from the phonebook. The second row lists different applications where to share this information. So you only have to dial the contact and mine quickly.
The result is a small explanatory text and a link that allows the recipient to open Waze and find out the route you are following. In the same message the destination address and the estimated time of arrival are specified. If they click on the link they will also see the route marked at the time you sent the message
Share location
There is a different option than sharing a route but also really useful at any time of the trip.Especially if there is someone waiting at the destination point. Perhaps because you have been stopped somewhere by a puncture. Or simply to get the other person used to the idea of where are you.
In this case you will have to click on yourself on the map, on the arrow that represents you. This will cause an on-screen message to appear with a button that says Send Location. This generates a new message and link that you can send by any means: WhatsApp, email, Telegram... Of course, the recipient will have to have Waze installed to be able to open that location as a destination point in your application, in case it is the meeting point or you need a pick-up.
Add a stop on the route
There are many situations in which you need to make a stop along the route.Whether it's to pick someone up once you've set off, or simply because you're going to divide the journey into stages Anyway, you can add these stops on the same destination so that the trip is complete and without unforeseen events. Of course, you must follow these steps:
The first thing is to establish the main destination as in any trip. Once the route has started, and always with the vehicle stopped to avoid any accident and/or fine, click on the lower Waze tab. When displaying the route options you will find the add stop option in the middle of the screen with its own icon. The process will be the same as with the destination point: you can specify a specific address to see the point on the map and choose it as a stop on the route. From that moment Waze will review the route to offer you the new directions. You will be able to choose the route that best suits you just as it happens when there is only one destination. Remember that you can add different stops to the same route depending on what you need. Just repeat the process.
How to find nearby gas stations
Another common need while driving is to stop at a gas station to refuel or, perhaps, to stretch your legs. Well, Waze also has information about these establishments. And not only to inform you of the updated price of gasoline or the location of these places You can also add them as stops to your route if you know how to do it. It's that simple:
During the route, already underway if necessary (remember that as a driver you cannot manipulate the on-board screen if you are not stopped), then click on the route tab to display the menu options.Among them, next to the option to add a stop to the route, there is also an icon of a gas station. Well, click on it to quickly display all these refueling places that are on the way to your destination. Waze shows you a list with the prices of the gas stations and the distance to which they are located. Of course, keep in mind that it may not show you all the gas stations, but rather those that interest you by route. So you just have to choose the desired one to, in a new window, choose if you want it to be your final destination or add it to your current route as a mere stop With this last option you will not have to reconfigure the entire trip. Once you stop at the gas station you can resume the route to your final destination.
Avoid toll roads
Maybe you haven't spent enough time with Waze to configure it according to your tastes and needs. And maybe that's why you missed deactivate the routes that go through tolls, for exampleSomething very useful to save some money on a trip. Well, you can also do it during the march. Or after choosing the destination of your current route. You don't need to turn it off forever if you just want to avoid tolls on this route.
Once you have your destination set, you just have to click on the routes tab. When displaying this option, select the Routes section to see which ones are available in addition to the one you are driving on. Here you can see if any have a toll or not. The interesting thing is in the Settings button in the upper right corner. Thanks to this access you can select the option to avoid toll roads. Something that will automatically eliminate from the equation those in which you have to pay to travel on some type of road A rest to know that, even if you change route for whatever reason, a paid route will never be chosen for that route.
