Just yesterday Instagram introduced Reels, a new way to create and discover short videos on Instagram that is very reminiscent of TikTok. With Reels we can record and edit videos of several 15-second clips with audio, effects and new creative tools In the feed, we can share the reels created with our followers and , if we have a public account, with the entire Instagram community. These will appear in a new space in the "Explore" section.
Today the Reels function is coming to Spain and we have been able to verify that some users already have it available. So we are going to show you how you can use it to create your funniest videos. It is very simple and quite similar to creating a story. Without further ado, let's see how to make videos in the purest TikTok style with Instagram Reels
How to create Reels
To create a video with Instagram Reels we will enter the "Your story" section, located in the upper left. That is, as we have always done to create a story on the social network.
At the bottom we will now see three options: Direct, History and Reels. If we slide to the Reels option, a welcome screen will appear that will explain what this new functionality consists of.
If you are a regular at creating Stories on Instagram, the screen to create Reels will be very familiar to you.In the central part we have a large button with which to start recording our video. And from the left area of the screen we can access the different effects that this new functionality provides us.
Among the creative options provided by Reels we can find, for example, Music. We can search for a song in the Instagram music library or record a reel with our own original audio.
Another option is AR effects, which allows you to record several clips with different effects that we will find in the effects gallery. These have been created by Instagram and also by different creators from all over the world.
We also have a timer and countdown optionThis allows us to set a timer to record clips hands-free. Once we press record, we will see a “3-2-1” countdown before the recording begins for the time we select.
The options of Alignment and Speed complete the set of possibilities. With alignment we can align the objects of our previous clips before recording the following. In this way, we can create more fluid transitions of different moments, such as when changing clothes or adding new friends to the reel. On the other hand, with the speed option we can speed up or slow down part of the video or audio so that we can keep up or create videos in slow motion.
Once our reel is created, we can share it with our followers.Or, if we have a public account, share it with everyone so they can appreciate our art. If we do so, our creation will appear in the Explore section of Instagram.
It is precisely in the Reels section of "Explore" where we can find the creations of other users of the new Instagram feature. Here we will find a selection of the funniest reels, in a personalized vertical feed for us. If we like a reel, we can indicate that we like it, comment on it or share it with our friends.
You'll also see some reels labeled “Featured”. If your reel has been chosen to appear in the featured section, you will receive a notification Featured reels are a set of public reels chosen by an Instagram selection team, so if you make a funny video you may appear in this section.
