Not all BMW models are compatible
The first thing to know is that not all BMW models are compatible. To be able to use Android Auto you will need your car to have the version 07/2020 of the iDrive system. BMW models that include iDrive 7 are as follows:
- Series 3 from 2019 onwards with Live Cockpit Professional
- Series 5 of 2020
- Series 7 of 2020
- Series 8 from 2019 onwards
- X3 of 2020 Live Cockpit Professional
- X4 of 2020 with Live Cockpit Professional
- X5 from 2019 onwards
- X6 of 2020
- X7 from 2019 onwards
