You may not know it, but you have a profile with three tabs to display different content. In the one on the left, the one with the six stripes icon, you can see your videos. In the middle tab, the one with the heart, you will see all the videos to which you have left a heart or likes. Finally, there is a tab with a lock icon This is because you have private videos, which only you can see.
Well, now that you know this you can click on any of your videos, the ones on the left tab. Then select the three dots or the share arrow, where you will find different options. Among them stands out the one with the padlock icon, called Privacy Settings
This brings us to a new screen with several tools to protect our video and choose who can see it. The first one is what we are looking for: who can see this video. When selecting it we can choose several options:
- Public: so that anyone who reaches our profile can see and play it normally.
- Friends: Only those followers that you also follow back will have access to this content on your profile. Other followers will not see it.
- Private: Visible only to you. And it disappears from the main tab to move to the padlock tab.
As soon as you save the changes, the video is privatized with the option you have chosen. The interesting thing about this measure is precisely that you don't have to delete that video forever. So if you want to keep it as a memento or just use it privately, you can go to the lock tab to view, play, and even download it.
And, like any other TikTok video, you will continue to have options to share with your private videos as well. Of course, you will have to download and share them manually on social networks or WhatsApp, since TikTok does not show you this option directly in private videos.
How to make a private TikTok public again
The process is exactly the same. To do this, you will have to go, yes, to the padlock tab to see one of your private videos. Click on the three dots on the right side and access the Privacy Settings menu. Here you can return the video to public status so that it appears on your profile for all users. Or for the friends you follow and follow you on this social network, if you don't want it to be fully accessible.
