GBoard keyboard will be darker and smarter with these changes
Table of contents:
The Google keyboard, better known as the GBoard, prepares interesting new features for users who know how to make the most of its virtues. And it is that, if you are already one of those users, you will know that it is an agile keyboard, with customization possibilities, stickers and all kinds of quick resources... but it still has room for improvement. And this is what has been discovered to come in future versions.
Thanks to 9to5Google and the work of review of version 9.6 GBoard Beta, now we can know what Google is working on to improve its keyboard. As we say, the novelties have been discovered by doing research work, so they are not even being tested in a limited way yet. This means not having an official or close date so that we can enjoy the new features that we are going to talk about. But at least we know they're cooking. Even if it's on a slow fire.
Auto Dark Theme
Until now GBoard has offered you customization possibilities with colored backgrounds or even with images on the keyboard. However, there was still a feature pending that was eagerly awaited: the dark theme And it is that the rest of Google applications have already joined the fashion of black or gray backgrounds. A trend that does not serve so much to save resources such as battery, but to mitigate visual discomfort when the screen is very bright or with light backgrounds.Especially in dark environments.
Well, Google has listened to the requests and is working on a dark and automatic mode for GBoard. In this way we will not have to manually change the background color or apply our own dark theme by hand. There is now a dark theme of its own with a black background and dark gray keys. But the most interesting thing will be the option to automate the change from light to dark theme. A button within the keyboard settings that will respect that we change the theme of the entire mobile so we don't have to worry only about the keyboard.
Google Lens slips into GBoard
Google Lens may have gone unnoticed as a feature for you, if you're an average user. After all, it is not one of the most famous features of Google. This smart camera allows you to recognize objects, search for them on the Internet, read barcodes and QR codes, do image translations... Useful things but you have to know. And maybe for that reason Google wants to fully include it in its GBoard.
Thus, next to the stickers, GIFs or even the Google assistant, in the top bar of the keyboard, there will also be space for a Google Lens iconThat little square with a couple of dots. It will be useful to recognize elements on the screen or to activate the camera and make translations. Or for the rest of the functions of Google Lens, since it will not be more than a direct access to the application of this function to use the mobile camera.
New font
Do you know Google Sans? It is the typeface created by Google from its current logo. Very round and wide letters. Perhaps a more newsworthy detail for expert users in this field, but if we compare Google Sans with the current typography you will be able to realize the change in nuance. The letters are no longer thin and tall, but have a more rounded dimension. Well, this typeface could also arrive in future versions of GBoard.
As we said above, at the moment Google is experimenting and developing these features. This means that they may well vary in appearance or function from here to their official arrival in the application. Or that we might never even see them arrive. So we will have to wait to see if everything goes as it should to have an increasingly capable and intelligent keyboard.
