How to get the new Google Maps layout in Android Auto

About a year ago, Google announced that the Android Auto application for mobile phones was going to be removed and its functionalities would be within the Google Assistant. It seems that the development of this system did not go as the company expected, since to this day they are not yet integrated. However, in the Play Store we can find two different applications called Android Auto, one for mobile phones and the other for cars.Precisely for this reason, no one expected a change that would affect Android Auto at this point. However, Google has surprised us all and has updated the interface of Google Maps running under Android Auto
In order for us to see the changes that Google has made to the Google Maps interface under Android Auto for mobile phones, we will need to have version 10.45 of Google MapsWe have checked it in the Play Store and at the moment it is not available in Spain, but we have been able to see some of the changes that we are going to talk about. However, others will be available only in a future update.
This is how the Google Maps interface under Android Auto has changed
Don't expect a radically different interface from the usual one. The changes made are small aesthetic modifications that, yes, improve the experience of using Google Maps within Android Auto.
Now the interface is somewhat more modern. The icons to dismiss or start browsing are different, the directional signs that appear at the top and bottom are now floating and do not take up the entire width of the screen screen as before. On the other hand, the green color is darker and the corners are a bit more rounded. In addition, there is also better text alignment in some places on the screen.
If you like to put the phone horizontally you will also see interesting changes. In addition to changing the green banners to the new floating layout, the address "drawer" is radically changed to sit in one corner instead of taking up the entire bottom.
This is without a doubt the most significant change, because with the current version when you display the screen with the destination information it occupies practically all the space, almost completely covering the map. Now, this information will appear on a vertical card attached to the left side of the screen. This card is much smaller and reveals at least half of the map
With this change, the Google Maps interface in Android Auto for mobile is closer to the latest design of the Google Maps application in Android Auto for cars.
