Are you launching a Xiaomi mobile phone and want to get rid of all those apps that come from the factory? It's not just a matter of taste, but getting rid of bloatware will also help free up space and memory on your device.
Yes, I know, you have tried to uninstall them like any application you download from Google Play and it has not worked. In this case, you will need more than just clicking “uninstall”, you will have to resort to other methods with the help of your PC.
There is no need for root for the options that we are going to mention, but you will have to be careful following the steps and the options to select. So first read each method carefully and then decide if you want to try it, at your own risk. We will not be held responsible if something happens with your equipment.
Preparing the mobile to uninstall the apps
We are going to try two different ways to uninstall the default applications of your Xiaomi mobile.
The first will allow you to choose which apps you want to remove, and the second will automatically remove the entire package of pre-installed apps. To do this, we will need to carry out a series of configurations, starting with the mobile.
No matter which method you decide to use, you will need to activate a feature from the Developer Options of your Xiaomi phone. To do this, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings >> On the phone and tap on “MIUI Version” several times until this message appears: “Developer options are now enabled”
- Now go to Additional Settings and choose Developer Options.
- And as the last step, enable USB Debugging
Now you have your mobile ready to use any of the methods that we will discuss below. And a detail that you should not forget: when you connect the mobile to the PC, select Use USB for file transfer. That way, it will have these two options enabled when connecting to your Windows computer:
Choose the pre-installed apps you want to remove
We start with the first method. This allows you to select the applications you want to remove from your device, and it only consists of a few steps:
- First, download the JAVA SE Development Kit and install it on your Windows computer. It is important that it is version 11 or higher, otherwise you will not be able to open the following tool.
- Second, download Xiaomi ADBFastboot tool (JAR file) and double click to open it in Windows.
- Connect your mobile to PC (prepared as mentioned before) and wait a few seconds until Xiaomi ADB detects it.
If you have done the steps correctly, you will see a screen like this:
There are tons of options, but you have to focus on the first tab “Uninstaller”. There you will see all the pre-installed apps, just select the ones you want to uninstall, click Uninstall! and ready.
And if you've made a mistake, and you've deleted an application you didn't want, you can revert it from Reinstaller. This process works for most of the apps on the list.
This method works on MIUI 10 and 11 to remove pre-installed Google apps, as well as those that correspond to MIUI and some extra options .
Remove all Xiaomi pre-installed apps with one click
This second method is also effective for getting rid of pre-installed apps, but it doesn't allow you to customize the process That is, you won't be able to decide which apps you want to uninstall and which ones you want to keep on your phone, as will remove all at once
The apps that will remove from your device with this second tool are:
- Google Photos
- Gmail
- Google App
- Google Duo
- Google Movies
- Google Music
- Google Lens
- Hangouts
- Facebook System
- Facebook App Manager
- Facebook Services
- FaceMoji Keyboard Lite
- Netflix Telemetry
- Yandex
- Amazon Shopping
- Amazon Telemetry
- Emergency Data
- User Manual
- Games
- My Recycle
- Population Alert
- Easter Egg
- My credit
- My Pay
- My Drop
- My Remote
- My Remote Add-on
- My Roaming
- My Roaming Service
- Talkback
- MIUI Forum
- My wallpaper carousel
- MIUI Analytics
- MIUI Demon
- MIUI MSA
- Qualcomm Telemetry
Surely you didn't even know that most of these applications existed on your mobile. Some are related to small MIUI processes, telemetry of some services, among others. If you don't know what they do on your device, it's best to find out before deleting them, as this process cannot be reversed.
For this method we will use a tool shared by MIUIblog, which you can download from this link, under the name MIUIDebloater in a Zip file.Inside that file, there is a folder called Platform-tools with a series of tools, but we are only interested in MIUI Global Debloater, as you see in the image:
From now on there are only two steps left:
- Connect the mobile (already prepared for the process as mentioned before)
- Double click on MIUI Global Debloater to run it
Windows may not allow you to perform this action until you manually give permission by choosing the “Run anyway” option. Once you perform that action you will see a screen like this:
To start the process you only need to press any key and give the corresponding permissions. This process is not reversible, so think carefully before authorizing any action Once it is finished, you will see that all the listed apps have been removed from your mobile.
One detail to keep in mind is that this method only works with a Global ROM and MIUI 11. It's a quick way to get rid of bloatware, although you may lose more apps than you want.
